“I don’t know. I just got here. Let me see what he wants to do. Are you sure I won’t be imposing?” she asks.

“Is that Conrad?” I ask her. She nods. I reach out and take the phone from her. I hit End Call and slide it into my back pocket.

“Hey.” She smacks at my chest, and I place my hand over hers, keeping it held over my heart. “I was talking.”

“I already told him no, right before you knocked on my door,” I tell her as I take a step back. I don’t let go of her hand, so she has no choice but to follow me. I push the door shut and then step forward, causing her back to press against it. Bracing one hand on the door, I remove the other from hers that’s still pressing against my chest and cradle her cheek in my palm. “I fucking missed you,” I say, bending and lightly pressing my lips to hers.

“Hi,” I say softly, pressing my forehead to hers.

“That was a nice hello,” she replies. “But that wasn’t nice to hang up on your brother.”

“I needed to kiss you.”

“Well, now that you have, do you want to go?”

I start to say no because what I really want is to have her all to myself, but it hits me that my ex never wanted to spend time with my family. A bonfire to her would have been the equivalent of a root canal. “What do you want to do?” I pull away so I can get a good look at her.

She shrugs. “It sounds like fun.”

“Fun, huh?” I drop my hand from the door and settle my hands on her hips. “How about this? We can go on one condition.”

“What’s that?” she asks suspiciously.

“You stay here tonight. I’ve gone an entire week without you, and I can’t go another night.”

“You’ve lived thirty-two years without me, Riggins.”

“I know, baby. Trust me, I know. So, do we have a deal?”

“I don’t know,” she muses. “I might need more convincing.”

Bending, I place my hands on the back of her legs and lift her. Instinctively, she wraps her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck, and we’re moving. I carry her further into the house until we reach the living room. I drop to the couch, with her still wrapped around me. She wiggles, grinding against my cock that’s already begging for her.

“You keep moving around like that, and the deal is off,” I growl against her lips before kissing her hard. It’s sloppy and uncontrolled, exactly how she makes me feel. Nothing in my life has been routine since that day on the plane, and I’m finding I don’t care. Not as long as I get her like this.

Bracing her hands on my shoulders, she pulls out of the kiss. “I-I can’t think when you kiss me like that.”

“Good.” I lean toward her, and she laughs, placing her hand over my mouth.

“Behave,” she playfully scolds me before dropping her hand.

“I don’t ever want to go that long without seeing you ever again,” I confess.

“Good thing I work for you.” She winks.

“This is more than that. You know that, right?” This conversation is long overdue.

She shakes her head. “I don’t know what this is, or who we are to one another. What I do know is that your kisses set my body on fire, and I know that I missed you too,” she says softly. Her hand rises to rest against my cheek. “More than I thought possible.”

“We’re staying in,” I say just as my phone rings.

“You better get that. They’re just going to keep calling.” She chuckles.

“Cockblocker,” I answer.

Marshall’s laughter carries through the line. “You bringing your girl or what?” he asks.

I raise my eyebrows at Sawyer, and she nods. “Yeah, we’re on our way.” I didn’t really want to go, but she seems excited, and as long as I get to spend time with her, I’m all in. I end the call without correcting him—telling him she’s not my girl. I want her to be, and seeing her tonight, after being away from her for so long, solidified that decision for me. I don’t know how this is going to end, but I know that I don’t want it to. I want her. I don’t care that it could get all kinds of complicated if this doesn’t work, but if I’m being honest, I can’t see a situation that we can’t work out. I can’t see me ever letting her go.

“You ready to go now?” I ask her.

“Yes.” She drops a kiss to my lips and climbs off my lap.

My cock is throbbing, and I don’t hide the fact. A blush coats her cheek when her eyes land on my lap. “Umm.” Green eyes meet mine.

“All you,” I say, adjusting myself before standing. “Let me grab a couple of things, and we’ll be ready to go.” I dart off to my room and grab her a sweatshirt. It’s summer but sometimes the night air can get chilly by the water. I also grab a blanket from the hall closet, just in case.
