“For your middle finger.” He quickly adds before swallowing hard and pinching his eyebrow.
I open the box and see the amethyst flower glistening in the setting sun.
Cal takes it out of the box and slides it on my middle finger. “I hope I got the right size.”
It fits perfectly. The shiny jewels match my eyes as they glisten at Cal with blurred vision. “I love it.”
Our carriage halts at the top of the wheel, allowing people on or off below. The view up here is sublime, but it’s nothing compared to him and the way he’s looking at me. He takes my face between his palms and brushes his lips against me. His tongue slips in as he takes possession of my mouth. I melt into him like I always do and place my hand on his cheek. The jewels catch my eye once again. This boy has my heart, and I can’t imagine a life without him in it. I don’t know what the future holds for us, but as long as we’re together, I’ll be happy.
His chest rocks against me as he chuckles. “I saw that playing out differently in my head.”
“Oh?”
“It only just occurred to me you might think I was gonna propose when I pulled out a ring box.” He knocks my shoulder with a grin.
“I…I didn’t think that.” I lie. I was slightly disappointed.
“I’m sorry. The next time I bring you here, maybe I will propose.”
He kisses me again and everything blurs.
