Oops! I Married a Rock Star - Page 108

Plus, it’s basically impossible to imagine having sex with my overprotective brother under the same roof and probably knowing what we’re up to.

“I’m home!” I call out as I walk past the foyer and into the living room.

Devlin comes out, looking exceptionally sexy in a white button-down shirt and black slacks. He kisses me. “Welcome home.”

“You going out?” He usually sticks to casual and comfortable clothes at home.

“Nope. I’ve been waiting for you to get home.”

“Really?” I flip through my mental calendar. Do we have a date? Anything special going on? I come up blank. “What’s the occasion?”

“I have a surprise.” He puts his hands over my eyes. “Let me lead you to it.”

“A surprise?” My heart flutters a little. Devlin spoils me with unexpected recipes and performances. But since he’s covering my eyes, it’s probably some kind of gift. Maybe a new target dummy or something.

He guides me, step by step. I give him control, feel the heat from his body at my back.

After what feels like a long, long time walking, he finally stops. “Ready?”

I nod, biting my lip with barely suppressed excitement. I feel like a kid on Christmas, anticipating what’s inside the pretty wrappings underneath the tree.

“Ta-da!” He pulls his hands away.

I blink a little, then gasp. My studio! I run out on slightly unsteady legs to see it up close.

The nicks on the door. The white splatter underneath the window sill to the right of the entrance. It isn’t just any studio, it’s mine. The one from my parents’ home in Drover.

“When…? How…?” I spin around, joy fluttering in my chest like a hundred trapped butterflies. “Grandma told me she sold the place to an investor.” I thought I’d never see it again. “Did you buy it from them?”

Devlin frowns. “She told you that? When?”

“Before I went to Kingstree.”

“I’m going to have to talk with my lawyer about that,” he says, a hint of vindictiveness in his tone.

“Your lawyer? Why?”

“Because when I bought it, she signed an NDA on the deal. She wasn’t supposed to tell anybody, including you.”

My jaw drops. “So you were the investor?”

He nods. “Through a trust I have, so she wouldn’t know who was really buying it. I wanted to surprise you with it.” He wraps his arms around my waist from behind, resting his jaw on my shoulder. “You like it?”

“I love it! Thank you.” I lay my hands over his, then turn my head and kiss him. “You’re the absolute freakin’ best.”

He smiles. “Then will you marry the absolute freakin’ best?”

“Of course I… Wait, what?”

He pulls back and turns me so we’re facing each other. He takes a small velvet box from his pocket and opens it, revealing the most gorgeous princess-cut solitaire ring. “Will you marry me, Becca Bane?”

“But…” I frown, unsure why he’s doing this. Did he have his lawyer annul our Vegas wedding while he was in Virginia? “We’re already married.”

He shakes his head. “Only because you mistook me for another guy. I want you to say yes to marrying me. To have a real, forever kind of marriage based on love.”

I look up at him as my heart melts for my rock-star love. “I always thought my face blindness was a problem, but it was a stroke of luck it made me marry you. Yes, I choose you, Devlin Marsh. For my real, forever husband.”

Then I seal my yes with a kiss.
