Oops! I Married a Rock Star - Page 109

Chapter Forty-Four

Becca

I’m still astounded at the sheer size of the resort in the Bahamas. Devlin’s assistant Marie said he rented the entire place for its private beach, even though we’re going to have a small ceremony with thirty guests. I personally prefer it small because a big crowd would be overwhelming, but I was okay with having a large one for Devlin, since he might have wanted to invite all his buddies. But he said he didn’t need a big wedding if I wouldn’t be comfortable.

He didn’t tell me the resort he rented out has over six hundred guest rooms!

“We can break in every room except for the twenty-four assigned to our guests,” Devlin says.

“I really don’t think we’ll have sex six hundred times on our wedding night…”

“Yeah, but we’re spending the honeymoon here, too, remember? People can’t check in until two days after our ceremony. And check-in starts at three.”

According to Marie, Devlin wanted to rent the entire resort for a week afterward, but apparently couldn’t because the place had existing reservations. He wasn’t happy about that, but this was the best option. Plus the private beach.

Our ceremony is going to happen on the beach, against a backdrop of gorgeous aquamarine water. We are walking on the warm, silky sand before tomorrow’s ceremony.

“This sand is amazing. It’s perfect for a barefoot beach wedding,” I say, enjoying the feel of the tiny grains against the soles of my feet and between my toes.

He grins. “I always wanted a fun wedding, and ours will be.”

My phone beeps. I look down, wondering if it’s Marie with some last-minute details.

–Sylvie: I can’t believe you didn’t invite me and Grandma to your wedding! What will people think?

Devlin looks at the text over my shoulder. “She honestly thought she’d be invited?” he asks. “And how did she find out?”

“Tasha,” I say. “Couldn’t resist rubbing it in.” Especially since Devlin’s paying all the expenses for the trip.

“Good for her,” Devlin says with a small laugh. “Wish I’d thought of that. I would’ve asked her to post it on that Society thing on Facebook and tag Sylvie and Margaret. Can I borrow your phone for a sec?” He puts his hand out.

“Yeah.”

“Come here.” He positions us so our faces are close together. “Smile, Becca pie!”

/> I do, and he snaps a selfie. Then he types up something and gives it back to me.

I check the screen and spot the text he just sent.

–Me: Hey Sylvie. Devlin here. They’re going to think, “Wow Sylvie and Margaret must’ve been complete bitches not to get invited!”

And he added our selfie.

I laugh. “You’re awful.”

“Yeah, but sexy awful, so it’s all good.” He places a kiss on my temple. “We’re going to be freakin’ great, Becca pie. I just know it.”

And I know my life is always going to be perfect, as the next day I walk down the same beach on Max’s arm toward the love of my life, my white dress fluttering in the breeze under a brilliant sun.

Max grunts as he hands me off to Devlin, and we intertwine our fingers as the officiant starts the ceremony, wanting the connection even though it’s not part of the ceremony.

After all, it’s our lives, and we’re going to do whatever it takes to live happily ever after.

“So. I hired this team for Travis and Belinda for their birthday gifts. They guarantee their clients’ children will enter Harvard Medical School.”
