Oops! I Married a Rock Star - Page 107

After a few bites of pizza, I take a sip of the beer. It tastes like raspberries and is surprisingly sweet. I should check and see if we can get it in Texas.

“So I guess you guys made up,” Killian says, wiping pizza sauce from the corner of his mouth. “You heading back to Drover now or what?”

“Yes and no,” I say.

“No?” Killian quickly looks Dev’s way.

“I don’t think being in Drover is necessary. I’m thinking about moving to… I don’t know.” I steal a glance at Dev. “Someplace convenient for both of us, which I think is going to be Dallas.”

“Dallas would be great ’cause that’s where the band hangs out,” Devlin says, linking our fingers and kissing the back of my hand. “And it’s not too far from Drover if you need to go down there.”

I shrug. “As long as we’re together.”

“Aw, you guys are so adorable! I’m doing an artist heroine for my next book!” Emily says.

Her announcement reminds me of something. “Emily, what’s magic V soul mates?” It wasn’t urgent before, but now I’m curious.

Emily looks at Devlin. “You told her?”

“Uh, I sort of mentioned the term,” Devlin says.

She smiles at me. “Magic victory soul mates.”

Hmm. That sounds off, and why didn’t Devlin tell me earlier if it means magic victory?

Apparent

ly she senses my disbelief because she puts her head on Killian’s shoulder and sighs like she’s exactly where she belongs. “It makes perfect sense, Becca.”

Devlin nods. “It does.” He looks into my eyes. “Love is magical, and love conquers all.” Then he makes a V with his fingers.

I laugh and place a small kiss on his cheek. “You’re right. And you’re my magic V soul mate, too.”

Chapter Forty-Three

Becca

Tasha pulls into the driveway in front of the Dallas mansion that Devlin and I bought eight weeks ago, and we exchange a hug.

“It was so good hanging out with you, girl. The last nine months haven’t been the same in Drover without you around,” she says.

“I’ve missed you too. Today was so much fun.”

“I should come up more often for our girls’ lunch and shopping. Or maybe just move here.”

“Move?” I blink. She hasn’t said anything about wanting to move, and I wonder if I should be making more of an effort to see her in Drover instead of waiting for her to come to Dallas. Even if I would hate to run into Grandma or Sylvie.

“Yeah. Business is great, and I feel like being in a bigger city might be a good idea. It’s easier to coordinate things, travel…and my family’s here, you know?”

“And we’d get to hang out more!”

“We would!” She laughs.

I get out of the car and wave as she drives off.

A satisfied sigh rises from me. The last nine months with Devlin have been amazing. He’s the most perfect husband anyone could ask for. Plus just being away from the toxic family environment in Drover has made a huge difference in my creativity. Barron Sterling loved the portrait I sent him, and according to Catherine, Stella Lloyd was thrilled to pieces when she received it for her birthday.

I walk into the gorgeous home I share with Devlin. He insisted on having our own place, saying we needed more space than what we could get at the band’s mansion. I told him that was fine—it wasn’t worth an argument. And I like the idea of having our own space, too.
