Hold On to Me (Return to Haven 3) - Page 76

Cash wanted to know all her secrets . . . he didn’t want to just be the secret.

“I shouldn’t have gotten angry with you the day you answered my phone,” he said. “I wasn’t ready to share that part of my life.”

Jade’s soft smile never failed to deliver that punch of arousal. “What made you so ready now?”

If only she knew . . .

Cash slid his hands beneath the shirt and found her bare. “I’m done talking.”

She wiggled her hips, putting her directly in line with his. “And you conveniently cleared the bed.”

In a swift move, he had the shirt up and flung across the room. “You should know something,” he said as he dipped his head to trail his lips across her shoulder and down to her breast.

“What’s that?” she panted, arching against him.

Cash lifted his gaze and met hers. “I’m staying the night.”

Jade fisted his hair and pulled his mouth to hers. “Yes.”

Chapter Fifteen

Jade hadn’t slept much, but she hadn’t asked Cash to leave either. He’d said he was staying the night and, for once, she hadn’t wanted to counter.

Sunlight slipped through the slit in the curtains and Jade glanced to the antique clock on her nightstand. Seven. They’d finally fallen asleep so late, nearly two in the morning after Cash had given her a full-body massage that inevitably ended up with another round of lovemaking.

And that was exactly what they’d been doing.

Jade shifted beneath the heavy arm across her chest and attempted to slide out of bed. She’d never had a man sleep over before—not even when she lived in Atlanta. The few boyfriends she’d had always left, and she never invited them to stay.

So, while waking up with someone beside her should feel strange, Jade felt oddly . . . right.

She managed to move slowly enough to ease out of bed and grabbed Cash’s T-shirt from the floor. After pulling it on and flipping out her hair, she couldn’t help but take in the sight of such a magnificent man sprawled out across her white sheets and duvet. The darkness of his tanned skin, the black ink, the unkempt dark hair, and all of those defined muscles should look out of place.

Jade smiled as she wrapped her arms around herself. Cash belonged here. He belonged in her bed. She’d been moving toward this epiphany for a while now. Ever since he’d brought up the possibility of a relationship, she’d been rolling the idea over in her mind.

No matter how many times she ran every moment through her head, she came to the same conclusion. She’d fallen for Cash Miller, and never in a million years would she have believed someone had they told her this was the man she’d ultimately want in her life.

Cash shifted beneath the sheet, which only covered him to his waist. He settled and let out a slight snore. Jade knew she had it bad when a snoring man made her smile.

Deciding to let him sleep, Jade tiptoed from the room and pulled the door to close behind her. She headed down the back staircase and into the kitchen. The table with three chairs made her laugh as she passed it and went directly to the coffeepot. She needed caffeine and food.

This morning she’d be skipping her fresh greens in the blender. A man like Cash would want something of substance for breakfast, so she pulled out bacon and eggs. Once she had the griddle plugged in and the surface hot, she proceeded to fry the bacon and whip up some scrambled eggs.

She sipped her coffee as she prepared the meal. The creak on the steps had her smiling before she glanced over her shoulder.

Oh my. Cash first thing in the morning wearing nothing but tattoos, messy hair, and black boxer briefs was enough of a reason to have him spending more nights. She could definitely get used to waking up to such a glorious sight in the mornings. Who needed coffee or an alarm clock to jump-start their day with Cash as a motivator?

“I was thinking of making you breakfast in bed.”

She turned back to the griddle so the bacon and eggs didn’t burn. That man and the promising look in his dark eyes could make her lose focus quicker than anything.

“If you want to have a seat in one of the three chairs we have left, the food will be ready soon.”

“You could have woken me up,” he told her in a gravelly morning voice that made her want to forget breakfast and see what other furniture they could destroy.

“You seemed so relaxed.”

She flipped the bacon and turned down the heat on that side. After pulling off the scrambled eggs, she whisked up a few more and slowly poured them onto the hot griddle.
