Ripples In Time (Maji 2) - Page 70

“What have you seen?” I demanded. “What is wrong?”

“Nothing is wrong, my prince,” he answered. “Most Holy asked me to come and offer the services of my gift. She said you need it.”

Most Holy was the Vicar of Thanas. She was his representative on Ealra among the Maji. I had never met her as she was protected well by the Wardens. They were a band of warriors with nonpareil skills, being an Elite member of the Guard would have been beneath them. My father had no command over them, no Revered Father ever had. The Wardens answered to the Most Holy and the Most Holy alone, and she answered to Thanas.

“Has Her Holiness given any inclination as to why I would need the services of a seer?”

“Yes,” Narah answered. “Your past intended is restless, and Most Holy intends to set her spirit at ease, and to do that, you need my help.”

“Kovu.” I dropped to my knees. “Her spirit is restless?”

Levi. My mind screamed. She is restless because of Levi.

“It is because I have interest for another?” I choked out. “She is angry with me. She hates—”

“My prince, these are your fears speaking.”

I looked at the seer. “What do you mean?”

“Kovu’s spirit is not restless because you are moving on from her. She is restless because you’re holding back from completely moving on. She wants to grant you your freedom from any guilt you hold onto.”

I heard every word as if Narah had screamed them.

“She has spoken to you?”

“Not me directly.” He shook his head. “Only the Most Holy holds the power to reach the spirits in the Beyond. When I touch the Most Holy, I see what she has seen and the conversations she has had. My sight is a gift to see the past as well as the future, my prince.”

I was breathing heavily as I kneeled before the seer.

“I love Kovu still,” I said. “I feel conflicting emotions because I also care for a human female. I know I could love her too.”

“One of the strong points Kovu made when she interacted with the Most Holy was a promise she drew from your lips.”

I nodded. “She told me not to shut down, to love another and be happy.”

“She wants this for you without you feeling guilty.”

A lump formed in my throat.

“If I mate another, I will never get to spend my afterlife with Kovu in the Beyond. She will be alone.”

Narah clicked his tongue. “Thanas is with all in the Beyond, so Kovu was never alone, and she never will be, my prince. Besides, you will be with her in the Beyond. The Beyond is a place where everything is possible.”

“I do not understand.”

“The part of your spirit that loves Kovu will join her in the Beyond, and you will be together when your life on Ealra ends. The part of your spirit that will grow to love your human will be with her in the Beyond when you pass. So you don’t have to leave either one of them. It is the same for members of your family. You are with everyone you love in the Beyond. Do you see?”

Was such a thing possible?

“I can’t … I don’t …”

“Thanas feels your suffering, and Kovu has too. It is why she was restless enough to gain the attention of the Most Holy.” Narah approached me. “I am here to offer you a gift.”

“What gift?”

“You will see.”

Narah reached out and touched my bare shoulder, and I felt as if I was being sucked from the inside out. When my vision focused, I was staring at two females in a field of colourful flowers. Both were young and beautiful but very different from one another. The female on the left had light grey skin, dark brown curly hair, and her eyes appeared to be a mixture of blue and green. The female on the right, the second I locked eyes on her, my body trembled.

“Kovu!”

No sound left my mouth. I tried to get up and run to her, but I was frozen in place. I could do nothing but simply gaze upon her.

“I cannot rest in the fields of the Beyond when I feel his pain, Your Holiness.” Kovu was stressing to the Most Holy. “I’ve spoken to Thanas. He feels Ezah’s pain too. My poor male has been in turmoil for decades. He has not been the same since my death, his heart has blackened because of the pain he feels. He needs the peace this human female can bring to him.”

“I know that,” Most Holy said. “It is he who does not.”

“Your Holiness, if you tell him, he will listen.”

“I fear not even I could release him of his hurt and guilt, but only you.”

Kovu frowned. “I am in the Beyond. How can I reach him?”

“A seer,” Most Holy replied. “I will allow his touch upon my skin so he can see this conversation with you. He will then show it to Prince Ezah. The only being in existence that can calm that male and release him from his turmoil is you, sweet one.”
