Falling For You (Love In All Seasons 2) - Page 64

I waffled between horny and humiliated all day. When Callie came back from her massage she was more cheery than I could remember ever seeing her, and her attitude from the day before had vanished.

Apparently letting someone rub her down bode well for her soul.

“I’m actually getting another massage tonight, like around eight.”

“Really?” I asked, surprised, as I took a wedge of Brie from the fridge. After adding some fig jam, some crackers, and a few bunches of grapes to the platter, I poured both of us glasses of wine.

Callie just sat with a dazed look on her face, watching me move around the kitchen.

“It was the best massage of my life,” she sighed. “And since we’re leaving early tomorrow, I figured why the hell not?”

“Right, why not?” I said under my breath, regretting that I hadn’t stepped out of the cabin earlier, to at least see if my guy was lingering around looking for me.

Willow walked through the door, flushed from all the fresh air on her wilderness hike. Her smile was wide, and she walked straight to the food, plucking a grape.

“I’m famished!” she said, popping it in her mouth. “My body is sore from head to toe.” She sat on the bed to unlace her hiking boots.

“After we eat, do you want to head to the soaking tubs?” I asked, feeling restless all of a sudden. My friends seemed to have mellowed after their days out. I should have splurged and gone kayaking or something. “It would probably feel really good after the hike.”

“Actually, I’m going on a night hike. I promised the group I was with today I’d join them; it’s a full moon tonight.” Willow poured herself a glass of wine and stripped out of her layers of hiking clothes. As she slipped off her coat, a thong fell out of the pocket.

“Umm, forget something?” I asked, hating how reprimanding my voice sounded as I held up the pink thong, which I knew for a fact was hers. We’d done laundry together enough to know every item of clothing the other person owned.

“Oops,” she said, not offering any more information.

Callie crawled under her covers in a blissed out, post-massage state. She’d closed her eyes, seeming unaware of the exchange between Willow and I.

“They must have, um, gotten misplaced,” Willow said, repressing a smile.

“Right,” I said, knowing she wasn’t telling me the entire story.

“I’m gonna clean up. It might be a while; I’m in the mood for a bath. You don’t mind, do you?”

“No,” I answered, annoyed. “Actually, I’m gonna head to the tubs right now.” I forced a smile onto my face, not wanting to stick around while the two of them geared up for the night. I had been waiting around all day—for what, I didn’t know, but I was going to find out.

My friends had taken control of their days and I needed to get my shit together, take control, and get what I wanted ... like I had last night.

I was gonna get the cock I should have taken hours ago.Chapter SixIt was dinnertime and still light out, so I didn’t grab a flashlight as I walked out of the cabin, wrapped in my robe. Passing the empty serenity garden, I felt a mix of relief and annoyance. If he had been standing here, I didn’t really know what I would say or do, but I liked to imagine myself doing something besides walking away.

I liked to imagine taking hold of what I wanted.

The soaking tubs were mostly empty. A couple of girlfriends chatted in one, and a man and woman sat in another, but they weren’t doing anything that would make me blush.

Their clothing was off, and my ears rang with Callie’s unexpected words: Why the hell not? Smirking, knowing I was the only one holding myself back, I decided I had nothing to lose.

I hung the robe on a hook and then discreetly removed my one-piece suit. My bikini, now tied to too many memories, was stuffed at the bottom of my suitcase.

I walked to the outdoor shower, which was enclosed by cedar paneling, and turned the water on before I stepped in. I let my brown hair down from the tie that held it back, and warm water washed over me, rinsing me off. When I turned the faucet off, goose bumps immediately pricked over my skin as the cool evening air swept over me.

I stepped out of the shower. While I was still hidden by the cedar walls, my eyes took in the scene in front of me. Three of the guys from before were now in the tub. Where had they come from?

They must have come from the dressing room. The guy from the sauna was there, flanked by his friends. His head leaned back against the edge of the tub, and I wanted to straddle him and rub my hands through his wet hair—even if he had ditched me post-hookup.
