Fall From Grace - Page 48

CARSON

Itry to keep my attention on the courtroom as one of my associates cross examines a witness in this assault case. This case never should have gone to court, the plaintiff not wanting to accept the terms of the plea deal I came up with. It was a mistake on her part because I have enough doubt buried in the jury’s heads to get my client off scot-free.

Instead my mind keeps going back to Grace waking me up this morning with her lips on my dick. She told me it was good luck for court today. I didn’t tell her I didn’t need luck, though I was willing to take whatever she gave me.

She has been sneaking over to my house more and more. And I can’t complain. She waits until Owen is asleep then takes an Uber over to my house and leaves by five in the morning. Giving her just enough time to sneak back in the house before Owen wakes up.

Of course, I’ve hardly been sleeping because I’ve spent half the night buried inside of her. It’s helping me. I know it’s just sex. But spending time with Grace makes me forget about the pain of Tiffany. About the way she left me. It’s even making me realize that maybe I didn’t love her the way I thought I did. I sometimes look back and feel like I forced myself with Tiffany, forced myself to love her, to settle down. Pressure from my parents didn’t help. Even if they weren’t her biggest fan, they wanted me happy and I was. Or I thought I was.

But with Grace, everything is effortless. I don’t have to force anything. I don’t have to try. Maybe it’s because it’s just sex with us. But I don’t think that’s it. I like her. She’s smart and assertive. She can hold her own and put me in my place. Things between us are easy. And I like it when she pushes my buttons.

I go back to focusing on the courtroom when my associate sits next to me. He whispers a few things to me and I nod in agreement. The judge dismisses us for the day and I head back to the office.

“You are overworking yourself, man.”

I look up at Owen. We are sitting at a whiskey bar for a drink after a long day at work. I managed to get him to pull me out of the office. Even though all I wanted was to text Grace and tell her to come over.

“You know I have a huge workload.”

“Grace not helping with the load?”

I nearly choke on my scotch. She has definitely handled my load better than anyone. “No, she’s doing great. She has a keen eye for detail.”

Owen nods. “Good, glad she isn’t slacking.” He sips his drink. “I think she is seeing someone and doesn’t want me to know. So I just wanted to be sure she was still fulfilling her job duties.”

“Seeing someone? What makes you think that?” I swallow half my drink.

He shrugs. “I’ve seen her sneak out a few times at night. And I never hear her come back, but every morning she is in the kitchen drinking coffee.”

I raise a brow at him. “Maybe she is just going out to the bar?”

“Could be. But she doesn’t leave until eleven sometimes. Hell, the other day I was working late at home and saw her get in an Uber around midnight.”

“Have you asked her?” I try to sound as normal as possible, at the same time, I want to find out if he has any suspicion it’s me she is seeing.

“No. I am trying to stay out of her business. She seems happy. And I don’t want to hound her to find out about this guy. I’m sure I’ll hear enough whenever he breaks her heart.”

I clench my jaw at that. I don’t want to be that guy. Don’t want to be the one that breaks her heart. But how can I? We are just fucking. You can’t break hearts when there are no feelings.

I have Grace on all fours, my hand gripping her hair and pulling her head back to arch her back, giving me the best fucking angle. I am so deep inside of her and her walls are clenching so tight around me it’s nearly impossible to keep myself from exploding.

“Carson, god. Harderrrr,” she moans.

I grip her hip with more force and slam into her, my balls slapping against her with every intense thrust. I am so close but I need her to come. I need to feel her explode around me.

“That’s it, baby,” I tell her as she meets me thrust for thrust.

Her breathing picks up and incoherent words come out of her mouth just as her phone starts ringing.

“Ignore it.”

She does and I keep up my pace just as it starts ringing again.

“Fuck,” I groan.
