Saving Vienna - Page 87

Her eyes widen and her face jerks back from me, but I don’t let her go far. I capture her lips, begging her to let me think about how my life really will be if we grow old together.

One thing I know without a doubt is even years later, I won’t be able to say no to her requests.

If she wants to have sex under a starry night, then that’s what we will do.

VIENNA

I rest peacefully in Zane’s arms.

We’re both stretched out on the cramped couch, me resting over him. My breasts press onto the solid wall of his chest. The plush blanket drapes over us, hiding us from any curious eyes, as Zane just flipped on the soft LED table lamp, which looks like a yellow lantern. Although, I’m sure any listeners got a good earful of our moans and groans.

“Wh-what are you th-thinking about?” Zane’s fingers softly graze my forehead, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

“Who might have heard us.” I bite my lip, suddenly feeling shy.

He releases a low chuckle, and my heart fills with joy at the sound. I look up to see his smile. The way the corners of his lips tug up and his eyes crinkle make him look devastatingly handsome.

“You’re th-thinking about th-that…now?”

“What? When you’re doing all these things to me with your weapon”—I wiggle my eyebrows before dropping my gaze lower toward his cock, which is nestled between us, full mast and digging against my upper thigh—“I lose all my senses.”

“And w-what about before? Wh-when you used your w-weapons”—and holy shit, when he squeezes my nipples, I can’t help my moan—“for s-seducing me.”

Zane caresses the underside of my breasts, and relentless shivers course throughout my body.

“Seducing? You mean if I wouldn’t have seduced you, you wouldn’t have made love to me?” I cock an eyebrow, trying and possibly failing at keeping a hard expression.

He rubs his nose against mine. “No chance, w-wife. I’m eternally s-seduced by you.”

“And the best husband award goes to you.” I laugh before placing a loud kiss on his lips.

These tender moments with Zane make me believe that my story isn’t over yet. If something as beautiful as Zane can come into my life in such a grave time, I can’t wait to know what more happiness is in store for me.

“Now what’s-s going on in her-re?” He kisses my forehead, but I don’t voice my thoughts out loud. I want to continue feeling cherished and loved.

I place a kiss over his heart as an answer, and when I look up, there’s a satisfied grin on his face.

“Tell me about your childhood. What were your parents like?” My hand drifting up toward his neck comes to a halt over his stiffening shoulder.

He’s gone rock solid against me.

My gaze flies up, and my breath hitches at the sight of a furious expression on his otherwise calm and composed face.

“Zane, what did I say wrong?”

I can feel him shaking his head. “I d-din’t have a childhood th-that needs to be r-revisited.”

With those words, he gets up, taking me with him. I remain buried in his arms when Zane saunters into the dark and leads me inside.

He settles me onto the edge of the bed. Confusion grips its claws into me as I carefully watch him opening his dresser and fetching a pair of sweatpants. Keeping an eye on him, I, too, put on some sensible night clothes.

Zane’s still standing in front of his open dresser when I walk up to him. I hug him from behind. My cheek rests on his back, and my hand over his pounding heart.

“If just a reference of it disturbs you so much, you don’t need to tell me anything,” I whisper.

“It’s not the r-reference that has my s-stomach in knots but the r-realization that I want to sh-share it with you.”
