ALISTAIR

“Is he dead?” I hear a voice.

“He smells dead,” another voice adds.

“The guy just got his heart ripped out. Leave him alone,” someone else says.

I blink a few times to try to crack open my eyes, but I seem to be having problems with it. A groan falls from my lips as it registers just how much my head throbs. Anguish. Pain. Agony. They all slam into me at once.

“Good, he’s alive,” a voice states.

The next thing I know, I’m drenched with water. “What the fuck?” I sit up, cursing at whatever asshole did this to me.

“Rise and shine.” Jasper grins down at me.

I’m soaked to the bone from the bucket of water that was thrown on me and judging by the smirk on Jasper’s face and the bucket in his hand, he’s the asshole who did it.

“What the hell are you guys doing here?” I curse as I rub my temples with my fingers trying to get this hell in my head under control.

“Here,” Daniel says, handing me two white pills and a glass of water.

I eagerly knock them back and hope the damn pain will subside soon.

“We heard what happened,” Alex says, looking down at me with a frown as I’m slumped on my living room floor. There was no way in hell I was going to be sleeping in that bed—my bed—ever again after what I found. The entire thing needs to be burned.

“How?” I ask, rubbing my head, trying to get rid of this hangover. Once George and Miranda left, I drowned my sorrows with my friend vodka, who doesn’t appear to be my friend this morning.

“Miranda sent me a message saying you guys broke up and to check in on you,” Alex adds.

“That’s all she said?” I ask because she seems to be missing a big chunk of the story.

Alex’s eyes narrow on me for a moment. “Yeah, that’s all she said.”

“Guessing she broke up with you,” Jasper adds.

I turn and glare at my friend.

“Don’t be an insensitive ass,” Daniel tells Jasper, who holds his hands up as if to say,‘Don’t shoot the messenger’.

Alex crouches beside me. “What happened?” he asks, as his eyes narrow on me in concern.

“She’s pregnant,” I tell my friends.

“Guessing you didn’t take it well?” Daniel asks cautiously.

“That’s not the reason you two broke up?” Alex questions me.

As if I would break up with someone because they were pregnant.

“No,” I reply while looking at him angrily.

How dare he think I’d be that much of an asshole!

“It’s the fact I’mnotthe damn father that did it!”

My friends all stare at me in silence, and no one dares say a word.
