Paradise Found - Page 4

Miranda frowns and wipes the fresh tears away from her cheeks. She then looks over to George for reassurance.

What the fuck is going on?

“She’s pregnant, Ali, and it’s mine,” George tells me.

The entire room begins to spin, and I stumble physically from his words. It is as if he’s reached out and slapped me across the face.

No.

It can’t be true.

I don’t believe it.

No.

Then I see the smirk on my brother’s lips as he takes in my reaction. He knows he’s just shoved a metaphorical knife through my heart, and the smile on his face shows me he’s enjoying twisting it in my chest.

“You’re pregnant?” I ask. The words tumble out of my mouth freely as the shock sets in.

“It wasn’t planned. I’m sorry, Ali. I didn’t mean to hurt you. It just happened,” Miranda explains quickly as if that makes everything okay.

I literally stand there shaking my head, unable to process everything that has happened tonight.

“Get … the fuck …out,” I scream at her, my hand shaking angrily as I point to the door.

“Ali, please! I’m so sorry,” Miranda says, holding her hands to her chest.

“Get the fuck out of my home, my life, my everything. I fucking hate you both. I never want to see either of you again. You both make me sick,” I roar as my entire body shakes.

“Calm down, Ali.” George turns to me and bellows, “Don’t talk to her like that.”

I shuffle a couple of steps toward my brother as my hands ball into fists, and he quickly pulls Miranda behind him as if my intention is to hurt her. I would never lay a hand on a woman no matter what she has done to me.

But my brother?Fuck yeah! I would fuck him up, no questions asked.

That bastard deserveseverythinghe gets.

“I love her, always have,” George declares, his eyes narrowing on me as he tries to protect Miranda, who’s huddled in behind him.

“How many times do I have to tell you?Get the hellout of my house. Get. Out,” I shout at them both.

I’ve heard enough.

Love is not a reason to fuck over your family like this.

Miranda gives me a pained look as George grabs her hand and pulls her out of our home and into the early morning darkness.

I slump to the floor in shock.
