“Come on, then.” He wraps an arm around my shoulder, and we walk to the hotel. Each time I look into his eyes, I know what he's thinking, and it's the same as me.
“You know, I had a speech planned.” He kisses my ear and moves his hot lips to the spot on my neck that sends a tingle to my centre.
“You did?”
“Yeah.”
My breathing accelerates as I turn my head to meet his lips. “Let's hear it then.”
He chuckles. “All right. Steph, my lovable tease.” He shakes his head. “I’m just kidding.”
I jab him in the ribs with my elbow. “Tell me.”
He stops walking and pulls me flush with his body. “Stephanie. You’re my best friend. My rainbow on rainy days. My star on dark nights and my sun on wintry mornings. I want to marry you because you’re the other half of my soul. You make life worth living, Steph.”
Tears stream down my cheek, and he kisses them away.
Fairytales exist after all, along with happily ever afters. Home isn’t a place or a destination, it’s him. It’s where I belong. Where I can be myself and where I’m loved unconditionally.
