“I’ve known Alana before Megan knew Kam and just about as long as Alana has known Ian. I’ve been here in some way for each of them; Alana’s partner in crime, Megan’s protector, and when I got to know Veronica, it was the first time I wanted to be something more, but I know why that can’t happen.”
Dr. Lyce nods then looks back at me.
“So, how do you both plan on convincing Ian? It seems like it’s going to be an almost impossible task.?”
“I’m going to talk to him. I think it would be better without Blue for obvious reasons, but I was actually hoping you could help,” I say hopefully.
She doesn’t try to hide her shock this time. Her eyebrows furrow together as she sits back in her chair.
“Me?” she repeats as if she heard me wrong. “What could I do to help you with this?”
“Well, I’ve done some research and found that there are ways to help someone repress memories.” Helen doesn’t confirm, but she looks a little intrigued. “I was thinking if Ian doesn’t remember about Blue and me having our time together, then the chances of him agreeing will be higher. Is that something you can do?”
She stares at me, baffled for a while, not answering my question, and then her frown settles deeper into her face.
My heart sinks. What if my research is wrong and it’s not possible? What if she refuses to? That’s not good. Convincing Ian is going to be a lot more difficult if she can’t or won’t do this. She may not see doing something like this as being ethical.
