Nikita narrowed her eyes.“How do you know Tarryn?”

“Again, I’ll explain everything once we’re secure.Please, Nikita.”

“Fine.I don’t know why you think Tarryn can help though.She’s hundreds of miles away,” she said as she tapped the buttons on the phone.“Done.Now, explain.”

Kyllian did.He told her from start to finish about Mercy showing up, about Blake and his father lying to Quinn when she was a teenager, and finishing with how Quinn had been taken.

“She hasn’t left her house in eighteen years?Man, I’d go crazy.”

Kyllian gaped at the girl.“That’s your first question?”

“What else would I ask?I already figured out Quinn didn’t abandon me the way Blake claimed.”

“You call your dad Blake?”It wasn’t that odd considering he and his brothers often called their dad by his name.

“I do now.He lied to me my whole life.Made me think she didn’t want me when he stole me from her.And don’t get me started on Bethany.How could a female do that to another female?All I see on the internet is how women are supposed to stick together, but taking part in kidnapping a pup?Then raising it as your own?No wonder Quinn killed my grandfather.That makes more sense than she was feral.”

“She may have been feral in that moment.But to answer your question, yes.Quinn has remained a recluse all these years, hiding from your pack as well as her mother’s.She only left to come help rescue you before she was caught by Dennis’s wolves.”

“They almost got me too.What I don’t get is why my grandmother told me where the pack was if she knew Quinn wasn’t with them.”

“I can’t answer that, but it seems that family is a bunch of liars.”Kyllian scrubbed a hand down his face.“I need to stay here and find Quinn.My nephews are here with Mercy, Jeremy, and Brett.I need you to go to my sister’s house while the Hounds and I go after Quinn.Mercy said she’d take you there.”

Nikita shook her head.“No.I want to help you.”

“I appreciate that, but you saw what they’re like.These wolves don’t care about you.They killed Quinn’s mom for mating outside the pack.They kidnapped Quinn, and who knows what they have planned for her?Please, do this for me.I need to focus on getting your mom back without worrying about you getting hurt.As soon as I rescue her, we’ll come to you at my sister’s, and we can figure things out from there.”

“Do you think Quinn still wants me?”Nikita’s bottom lip quivered, and Kyllian closed the distance and wrapped his arms around the teen.

“I do.We both do.”Kyllian pressed a kiss to her hair.“You don’t know either of us, and Quinn and I still have some things to discuss, but you’re her daughter, and she’s my mate, which means you’re mine now too.If that’s not too weird.”Nikita gripped his shirt tight in her fists and nodded against his chest.“It is too weird?”

“No.Sorry, I’m a little overwhelmed.I can’t believe you’d want me.”

Kyllian leaned back and used his thumbs to wipe away the tears leaking from the corners of her eyes.He was proud of Nikita.She’d been through some shit that night and was only then letting her emotions free.“Why wouldn’t I?From what Mercy told us, you’re smart.You’re tough, and you have an excellent bullshit meter.You set out to find your mom and kept yourself safe.Plus, you rode on my Gryphon like a champ.”

“I did, didn’t I?”Nikita grinned through the tears.

Kyllian grinned back.“And you’re sassy.You’ll fit in with the Lazlos well.”

“Are all your family Gryphons?”

“For the most part.My brothers’ mates aren’t.One of them is a witch.Another was an assassin.Quinn is the first wolf in our family.”Kyllian thought about Wynter, but technically, she wasn’t family.He didn’t know if she and Hawk were even mates.“Gryphons aren’t pack the way wolves are, but family is everything to us, and let me tell you.When you meet my mom?Rory is going to go all Lioness on you.Then she’ll probably go after Blake and your grandmother herself.No one touches Rory’s cubs and gets away with it.”

Nikita got a dreamy look in her eyes.“She sounds wonderful.”

“She’s the best.”As they waited on the Hounds to arrive, Kyllian kept Nikita entertained with stories about the twins and their antics while keeping his senses open to trouble.It took another twenty minutes before Devon and the others found them.

Mercy was the first to exit the vehicle, and she took a tentative step toward Nikita.“Goddess, am I glad to see you safe.”

Nikita grabbed Kyllian’s hand.He looked down at the teen, and she smiled up at him.“It’s all thanks to this guy.If he hadn’t found me when he did...”Nikita shivered.“Are they like you?”She tilted her head toward Devon, Joker, and Storm.

“Yes.”Kyllian introduced her to the Hounds before explaining what happened to Quinn.“Two of the RC pack led her away from the compound.I was following when I heard Nikita squaring off against four wolves.There were more on their way when we took off, so I doubt we have much time before they find us.I’m surprised they haven’t already.Now that Nikita’s safe, we need to move.”Turning to the teen, he said, “My sister, Poppy, is going to put you and the other wolves up while the rest of us go after Quinn.”

Mercy closed the distance between them.“Come on, kiddo.We’ll get you out of here while the Hounds go find Quinn.”

Nikita squeezed Kyllian’s hand, and he smiled at her again.“Go ahead.I’ll catch up to you as soon as I can.”Nikita released her grip and flung her arms around his waist.Kyllian hugged her tight, pressing another kiss to her hair.He breathed in her scent, letting it settle his beast somewhat.When she finally turned loose, she walked away with her pack.Kyllian’s heart was torn watching the girl get into the car with the other wolves.He wanted to keep her close, but he needed to find Quinn so the three of them could start their lives together.Kyllian might be getting ahead of himself, but there was no way he would allow Blake or his mother to have any more influence on Nikita.
