“Still, the information might be on the cloud.Give me the number,” Kyllian demanded, putting a little Gryphon voice into his command.Mercy immediately rattled off the digits, and Kyllian sent the number to Bishop requesting he try to recover any messages.He was glad the Hounds had another computer expert now that Lucy was busy working on a formula with Jonas Montague, the scientist who cloned the first baby some thirty years ago.That clone who happened to be Lucy’s mate, Tamian.
After receiving a response from Bishop, Kyllian said, “Bishop will see what he can find.Until then, we need a plan.Quinn, I can call in other Hounds to go search for Nikita while I stay here with you and Trenton, or vice versa.”
Trenton fisted his hands at his side.“I’m not staying here while my granddaughter is out there somewhere.”
“Dad, no.I need you here.Safe.I’ll go.She’s my daughter, and it sounds like I need to set the record straight once we find her.Kyllian, call in as many Hounds as you can.Send two here and the rest can come with us to New Mexico.”
“Quinn—”
“Dad, please.”Quinn grabbed Trenton’s shoulders and squeezed.If that were his father, Kyllian would feel the same.The male might be part wolf, but he wasn’t strong enough to go up against a dire wolf much less a whole pack, especially with a heart condition.
“Fine.But you have to promise to call and keep me updated.I can’t lose you too,” he whispered.
“I promise.”Turning to Mercy, Quinn asked, “Where are we going?”
“New Amarillo is where we lost her scent.”
“I have family in New Laredo,” Kyllian said.“I’ll call and have anyone available to meet us there.”
“Is Daniel still in Texas?”Trenton asked.
“You know Daniel?”Daniel was mated to Kyllian’s sister Poppy.All six sisters, three sets of twins, lived in Texas still.
“He was in the army with Sutton and me.”
“Yes, he’s still there.”Turning to Mercy, Kyllian asked, “Where in Amarillo should we meet your brother?”
“There’s an old campground – the Durango – that never reopened after the world fell.That’s where we’ve set up camp for a meeting place.”
“Call him and tell him to expect several Hounds of Zeus bikers.Not sure how quick we can get a flight out.Quinn, you work on that while I make some calls of my own.”
“On it.”Quinn pulled her phone from her back pocket and tapped at the screen.
Instead of calling his brother-in-law, Kyllian reached out to Daniel’s son, Devon, who was Pres of the Hounds MC in Laredo.Devon and his son, Jericho, had helped Hayden when he had a job taking down a Mexican drug cartel.It was on that job where Hayden found his mate, Sadie.Kyllian jogged up the driveway to put distance between himself and Mercy.Being lupine, she would have enhanced hearing.
“Kayos?”Devon answered.“What’s up?”
“Hey, Devil.I’m on protection detail for our handler, and her daughter is missing.”Kyllian explained about Nikita’s situation, trusting Devon with the truth of the wolves.“She was last scented in Amarillo, and I’d like to enlist your help in tracking her down.”
“Of course.Just let me know how many of us you need when and where, and we’ll be there.”
“The old Durango campground is where they’ve set up camp.I haven’t yet shared with Mercy that we’re not human, but I will voice her not to share that information if I do tell her.”
“Understood.I’ll grab Jericho and some of the others, and we’ll get headed that way.”
“Thanks, Devil.”
“No thanks needed, Uncle.It’s what the Hounds do.”
After they disconnected, Kyllian called Ryker and filled him in, requesting someone to come watch over Trenton.
“More wolves?Makes me wonder how many other shifter species we don’t know about.”
“More?As in you know of other wolves?”
“Yes.Wynter is also a she-wolf.”
“Hawk’s Wynter?”
