Just for You - Page 74

A sob burst from her. “I want you.”

My heart damn near exploded in my chest. “I want you, and you want me. You think I’m letting you run from me again?”

She shook her head.

“Cupcake, you know more than anyone else that life is fleeting. By the sounds of it, you’ve had more losses than any one person should ever have to suffer, but you’re not going to lose me. Understand?”

“You can’t know that.”

“No, I can’t predict the future, but I’d rather enjoy whatever time I’ve got left on this Earth than live alone in fear.” I held her beautiful face in my hands. “I want the chance to get to know you better, Adds, to be with you and no one else. We can take it slow, yeah? Keep having fun. No pressure.” I’d say whatever I had to at this point to get her to give me a chance.

“We can take it slow?” she whispered.

“Yeah, baby. Whatever you need.” I grinned. “I’ve got visions of you sitting behind me on my bike this summer. Partying, maybe a trip or two with the club, or we could head back to Colorado. A little break away when I start building the cabin. Just living fucking life, Addie. Enjoying the moment. Isn’t being together, however long that is, worth the risk?” I don’t know where all that came from, but I meant it, and I wanted it, and a whole fuck of a lot more, with the woman in my arms.

She blinked up at me and bit her lip. My girl wanted to give in, she wanted everything I’d said, but she was afraid to reach for it.

“Will you give us a chance? Please, cupcake.” I was begging, and I didn’t give a fuck, because everything she’d just said told me she had feelings for me, deep ones. She didn’t want to let me go either. But she was scared-as-hell.

Her eyes held mine, and there was still fear there, but then her fingers curled into my shirt, and she clung to me. “Okay.”

Thank fuck.

Shaking like hell, I kissed her. I let her feel how happy she’d made me because words were impossible.

Then I rolled her to her back, stripped her bare, and worshipped every inch of her beautiful body.

I’d ease her fears. Somehow, I’d make her see that I wasn’t going anywhere. I was hers, and she was mine, and nothing was going to change that.

Eventually, she’d see that I wasn’t going to leave her.

That I’d guard her fragile heart with everything I had.
