So Wright (The Wrights 1) - Page 76

“You know how much I love you.” Jack pulled a box from his jacket pocket. A Tiffany blue box that even Miranda, who wore next to no jewelry, recognized.

“H-holy shit.” Her head went light.

“You know how miserable I am when I’m away from you.” He pulled the top off the box, then lifted out the velvet box inside.

Miranda’s chest squeezed so hard, she couldn’t breathe. She tented her hands over her mouth.

“Dad and I created a new arm of Pinnacle Construction for architectural services. And I’ve given my notice at work.”

He lifted the lid, and something inside sparkled. Miranda couldn’t see what because tears blurred her vision.

“Baby, there is nothing I want more than to share the rest of my life with you.”

“Oh my God.” The words were barely a whisper, and tears burned a path down her cheeks.

“Miranda, I don’t want to miss another minute with you. Will you marry me?”

One of her hands moved to her chest, where her heart rapped hard against her ribs. “I… I can’t breathe…”

“In through the nose, out through the mouth.” He reached up and curled his fingers around hers, giving her left hand a squeeze before pulling it toward him. “You’ve got this, baby.”

Miranda couldn’t take her eyes off his face and all the deep, unconditional love swimming in his eyes. She’d never felt so utterly complete. More than complete. Overflowing.

He pulled the ring from the box and slipped it on Miranda’s shaking finger. It felt like a band. A wide, heavy band with the sparkle of diamonds.

“Jack.” She pulled on his arm, and he stood. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. “Yes.” She kissed him again. “Yes, I want to marry you.”

She kissed him again, then leaned back to look into his eyes. “Nothing in my life has ever felt so right.”
