Nice Buns (Cheap Thrills 7) - Page 87

Christ, even that made me feel something for her. It was an adorable move, but it was also what I was beginning to realize was just her.

With what little energy I had left, I spun her onto her back so I could pull off the cut-off sweats she’d changed into after I’d left earlier.

Ironically, I knew she liked me in grey sweats and cut-off versions of them, but women had no idea how hot they looked in their own versions of them.

The writing over the ass on some of them and how the material either fit snugly around their butt cheeks and thighs or only tightened across it when they walked, giving peeks of what was under it, drove men crazy. Maybe it was just me, but if no other man felt the level of appreciation for them that I did, they needed to reassess it or look at Evie in them.

Pulling them down and off, I dropped them next to the bed, and went to work on getting my t-shirt off and finding my toothbrush in my bag. I was aware of the bed shifting the whole time, but I figured she was getting comfortable.

That was until I stood up and turned around to say something and saw Evie pulling her arm inside the hole of her t-shirt, then shuffling around and reaching up the opposite side and pulling out her bra from it.

“You know,” I mused, getting her attention off the comforter where she’d been staring while she did it and onto me, “I want to try that sometime. I know men brag about the one-handed bra unclipping thing, but I think a way sexier challenge would be being able to master what you did just there.”

A surprised giggle popped out of her. “Who’s it sexy for, men or women?”

“Both,” I answered honestly. “Seeing as how I only intend to use it on you, though, I’m hoping it’s hot for you. Well, and me,” I added at the end, then wiggled my toothbrush in the air at her. “You going to brush your teeth?”

“Does a bear shit in the woods,” she sighed, slowly making her way off the bed. “And I mean that rhetorically, because if I don’t brush my teeth now, I’ll end up with the worst taste in my mouth in the morning.”

Following behind her to the bathroom attached to her room, I glanced down at my toothbrush. “You mean you’ll have bad breath, like every human does in the morning?”

Squeezing toothpaste onto her toothbrush, she then passed the tube back to me while she dipped it under the water.

“Nope. I have issues with aftertastes and things like that. For some reason, it causes me anxiety if I have a nasty taste in my mouth. It started when I was a kid, and my parents couldn’t figure out where the bottle of mouthwash kept disappearing to. I’d take it to school with me to rinse my mouth out after lunch.”

She popped the toothbrush in her mouth and went to town on her teeth.

While I did the same, I thought about it. I didn’t like the aftertaste of things with intense flavors in them, and if I’d had something with garlic or onions in it the night before, I chewed gum like my life depended on it the next day, so I understood what she was talking about.

Maybe I’d been hiding my weird side all these years? Like, I was a closet crazy, only just realizing how bad I was at the age of fifty-one?

Pulling the brush out, I spat out the foam into the sink. “I can understand that. I carry two packs of gum with me at all times and have a travel toothbrush in my locker at work.”

Evie saluted me with her toothbrush. “Here’s to dental hygiene at an extra level. I’d high-five you with my toothbrush, but there’s saliva on it. Although I’m happy kissing you, there’s something gross about swapping toothbrush cooties.”

I almost inhaled the toothpaste in my mouth, and when I went to rinse my mouth out, Evie stopped my hand filled with water and shook her head.

“You never speak to your hygienist?”

“Yeah, every time I see them, or I’d be rude, and they’d likely do something that’d make me lose all my teeth.”

“In that case, you’d know you don’t rinse out your mouth after you’ve brushed your teeth. All of the good stuff in your toothpaste is meant to stay in there to help your teeth.”

Blinking, I ran my tongue across the front of my teeth. “Are you sure?”

Nodding, she pointed at the bedroom. “Trust me on this one. You can go look it up, and it’ll be confirmed online, too.”

I wasn’t that invested in defending mouth rinsing, and what she was saying made sense, so I nodded and washed my face instead.
