Want You Back - Page 9

“Do you come here a lot?” I asked.

“Almost every Sunday.” She wagged a finger at me. “You’re not going to distract me. Tell me what’s on your mind. My friends tell me that I’m pretty good at solving problems.”

I glanced at her and decided to come clean. “I was trying to figure out how to make us work. I want to see you again Charlotte.”

A guarded look came over her features. I wasn’t the only one who had a problem with a relationship. Instead of making me feel relieved that she wasn’t interested in a relationship either, it made me frantic.

“Look, Alex,” she said and twirled her fingers. “You’re an awesome guy, believe me, you’re a god in bed, but I can’t do relationships right now.”

That sounded like something I would say. It wasn’t very nice when the tables were turned on me. “Me neither,” I confessed. “Let’s compare notes on why we can’t. I’ll go first. I have big plans and all of them depend on me doing well in my end of year exams.”

She nodded.

I carried on. “I don’t have the time for a relationship and I can’t let anything get in the way of my dreams. I’ve worked too hard for it. Your turn.”

“It’s uncanny,” she said. “That could have been me speaking. My reasons are exactly the same as yours. My career is very important to me. I don’t want any distractions.”

I leaned forward and kissed her lightly on the mouth. “You’re very cute when you’re serious.”

She made a stern face. “You were being serious too, but I’m glad we’re on the same page.”

“Except for one problem. We’re so good together. I’ve never felt the way I did with you during sex.”

“Sex doesn’t make a relationship,” she pointed out.

“It’s a good start,” I said quickly. I’d had great chemistry with women in the past that did not translate to great sex. So yeah, I may sound like I ranked sex too highly in a relationship. That’s because I did. I loved women’s bodies and I loved sex. One woman at a time though.

“Let’s just enjoy what we have today and move on with our lives,” she said.

I didn’t want to believe she didn’t want us to try and make a relationship work. “Do you want to hear my reasons as to why I think we would work?” I asked her.

She shrugged, but her lips curved into a smile. “If you insist but I’m not going to change my mind. You’re wasting your time.”

“Counsel, your objections are noted. However, there are a few pertinent facts you have failed to take into consideration,” I said, adopting a formal court tone.

She giggled.

Good. I needed her to be relaxed and happy to convince her that we were perfect for each other.

“One, I think you’re the most beautiful and sexiest woman I’ve ever met,” I said.

“I beg to interrupt, Your Honor,” she said, smothering her laughter. “but, that is not a valid reason.”

I raised my hands in mock surrender. “God, you’re picky.”

She laughed. I could get used to the melodious sound of her laugh. I wanted to know everything about her.

“I’ll start again. We both want the same thing. To reach the peaks of our careers. Which means that we’ll give each other the space we need,” I said.

She contemplated me. “You’ll make a great lawyer.”

Lightness came over my chest. “Does that mean what I think it does?”

She seared me with a look. “No, it means that you’re convincing, but not enough to sway me.”

My face fell.

“Maybe.” She paused. “I’ll think about it.”

Alex

I knew then she would come around. I inched closer to her and leaned forward to kiss her. I captured her lower lip between my teeth and nibbled it softly. Charlotte deepened the kiss and our tongues twirled together. I forgot where we were as I lost myself in the softness of her mouth.

I reached out and cupped her breasts over her t-shirt. She moaned into my mouth as I teased her nipple and felt it harden under my touch. My cock swelled in my pants. Fuck! Charlotte was a walking, breathing sexual fantasy and if I played my cards right, I wouldn’t lose her.

“Let’s go home,” she said, pulling away. “If we stay here a minute longer, we’ll be arrested for indecency.”

“Good idea,” I said, my cock as hard as wood. I couldn’t wait to get back to her place for some relief.

I took her hand as we walked back. It was a ten-minute brisk walk to her house. By the time we got there, I couldn’t wait anymore. I took her into my arms as soon as she shut the front door.

“I can’t get enough of you,” I told her before our lips crashed together. I kissed her with everything I had, hoping to convince her that we deserved a chance.
