Chasing Her Curves - Page 31

“It’s fine.”

I walked over and took her hand. “You were just a simple girl from Bakersfield when I blew into town on my motorcycle and set my sights on you. Things were already spinning before we had our first date.”

“The cusp was there, but you took me past my inhibitions. I’ll never forget that.” She leaned against my chest and sighed.

“This right here—this is what I need.” I pulled her into an embrace. “I never thought things would get complicated.”

“I think Angelina knew. She had insight none of us understood when this began.” Harmony exhaled sharply. “Are you going to leave me?”

“No, regardless of where we go from here, I am devoted to you. I want this to work. Last night was incredible and while it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, I need to find my place in this arrangement.” I squeezed her tight.

“It doesn’t have to be like last night all of the time.” She pulled back and stared into my eyes. “You and I have something special.”

“Yes we do.” I put my hand under her chin and leaned close. “If we can have time alone…”

“We’ll always have that.” She exhaled and nodded. “We can have the best of both worlds.”

“There’s only one world I want right now.” I slid my hands underneath her pajama top.

“We have all day.” She grinned for a moment as our lips met.

Our clothes were off before we crashed into the bed with our arms tangled around each other. That was perfection. It was exactly what I needed. I might not have had Devlin’s dark side or Connor’s wounded soul, but Harmony still belonged to me. We got distracted by the storm that consumed our moment, but as I slid my cock into her wetness, I felt at home again. We needed a union that transcended the four of us. It wouldn’t always be possible, but we definitely needed it. I felt my desire flourish once I was inside her. My hips quickly built up speed and it felt like Bakersfield again. The two of us could have fun and come together in bliss when we were alone. If I could have those moments, I could live with the rest of it. That was my place—my ultimate need brought to life.

“I love you.” I drove my cock deep and whispered into her ear.

“I love you too.” She smiled and gasped. “God, you feel so good.”

Our lust was overpowering. It didn’t take either one of us long to reach the point of no return. Our bodies slammed together as we chased what united us to begin with. Harmony had been my fate since the moment I sat down beside her in Anthropology class. Nothing could come between us. Connor and Devlin were enhancements, not competition. It took a shared moment on the other side of the abyss for me to realize that, but clarity was amazing. I felt my balls tighten after only a few minutes inside my beloved, but I came harder than ever before. Her body recoiled and shook when her orgasm consumed her. I crashed into the mattress when my load was spent, pulling her close into an embrace. My head spun, but it was an exhilarating version of exhaustion.

I get it now. It all makes sense.

It was a struggle to deal with everything that swirled in my life as I met Devlin and Nate. Nate seemed a bit standoffish, but Devlin was ready to hop in and help the minutes he heard my problem. A man like that definitely belonged with Harmony. The night we shared between the four of us had been something I never expected, but I was invigorated. I had hope, desire for the future, and all of it could be satiated if Devlin could find a way around the trust that trapped me. I felt a little peace when he started pouring over the paperwork. I didn’t know if he could find the answer buried in the contract that stumped my lawyers, but he was driven in a way they weren’t. He had something more at stake.

“Fucking bloodline-trusts.” He threw a stack of paperwork and leaned back in his chair. “Do you have anything to drink around here?”

“Yeah, I don’t drink much at work, but I’ve got something.” I opened my desk drawer and pulled out a bottle of vodka.

“Yeah, that’ll do.” He nodded. “If I was in your situation, I’m not sure I would ever stop drinking.”

“It’s tempting sometimes.” I sighed. “But that might just make me do something stupid.”

“I don’t think we can break the trust. If you don’t run the company, it’s going under.” He took the bottle and twisted off the top.

“Fuck…” My heart sank into my stomach. “I was afraid you would say that.”

“It’s a load of shit. Your father should have been smarter. He could have set something up in case your brother wasn’t able to run the company.” Devlin tilted the bottle back and took a drink. “Want some?”

“Yeah, why not.” I sighed and took it from him. “My father was fine with a quick solution. I know he never dreamed that there would come a point when my brother couldn’t run Vale Investments.”

“It’s a problem, but the solution isn’t impossible.” Devlin reached for the bottle as soon as I took a drink. “You just might not like what I’m about to say.”

“Oh?” I felt my heart trying to sink into the floor. “What does that mean exactly?”

“The easiest solution for a bloodline-trust is another member of the bloodline taking over.” He took a drink and handed me the bottle.
