A Brush With The Devil - Page 5

Even in the state she’s in now, I would never take advantage of her. I love her way too much to destroy our friendship beyond repair. Although, I’m quite sure I already put a major fracture in what we had since I conjoined her with Penn.

I just couldn’t choose one or the other.

I wanted them both.

Needed them both, and it was honestly the only way I knew how to keep them.

Together.

“Got anything to drink?” he asks as he wanders around the main floor.

“Check the fridge,” I reply as I pull my jacket off and head into the living room. I toss it on the couch, kick my boots up on the coffee table, and turn the television set on. There’s no way in hell I’m going to let him go wandering off anywhere else in this building, so I guess this is where I’ll be entertaining my unwanted guest.

“Here,” he says as he walks in and sits next to me. I glance over at him and take the beer he’s holding out to me with a nod, twist off the cap, and toss it onto the table near my boots.

Lakyn clears his throat as he mimics my movements, then leans back against the couch and folds an arm behind his head.

“So,” he begins conversationally. “Where are they?”

“Where are who?” I ask him in a distracted tone.

“Your fuck toys,” he replies as he raises the bottle to his lips and takes a healthy swig.

I grit my teeth.

Don’t let him get to you—that seems to be what gets him off.

“I don’t have fuck toys,” I reply evenly.

“Right. Me either,” he says with a chuckle, “but really. Where are they? I think it’d be nice to say hi and introduce myself.”

“Not a chance in hell,” I snap at him.

Lakyn grins.

I groan.

He wins this round again.

“I’d much rather stay out here,” I say in a softer tone.

“And watch TV? That’s boring, kid.”

I run a hand back through my hair. I know what I can do to distract him from Penn and Aiden, but do I really want to do this right now?

And with him?

I clear my throat as I drop my boots from the coffee table, and place my beer down. I wipe the sweaty palms of my hands on my thighs before I turn my attention to him and rake a hand back through my hair.

He’s still grinning and I want nothing more than to cave his fucking face in, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that gets him off too.

“We don’t have to watch TV,” I say slowly. “There are other things we can do to pass the time.”

Lakyn chuckles as he places his beer down on the table, and rubs his chin thoughtfully before he turns to glance at me.

“Such as?” he asks, that damn grin still prominent on his face.

I take a deep breath as I lean forward and press my lips against his.
