Hard Working Hero (Hard Working Hero 1) - Page 21

“I like your hands,” she says, her voice delicate and soft.

“Really? You like these hands?” I ask, sitting down next to her. “Even though they're so damn rough?”

“I thought they felt good.” Narissa twists her head to look at me, pulling her bottom lip in.

The light from the moon casts a silver glow on her skin. She looks gorgeous. Her eyes are twinkling like stars. Her lips plump and juicy as she licks them slowly. This girl takes my breath away.

She's teasing you. But does she even know what she actually wants?

I need to just come out and ask her directly. I can dance around her feelings all day long, but it doesn't do any good if I don't get a straight answer. I know we haven't known each other very long, but why should that matter? When you feel it, you feel it. And if she's just not sure, that's fine too, we can take things as slow as she wants.

I just need to know if this is worth pursuing. If I don't stand a chance, she needs to tell me now. But, if Narissa feels even the smallest hint of something, as tiny as it might be, then we both deserve to see where this goes.

“What do you want, Narissa?” I blurt out the question. It's a simple question.

“What do you mean?” she asks. Sitting up straight, she inhales a deep breath, drawing my eyes to her tits.

My eyes linger for a moment, watching her breathe, watching her tits as they swell up, her cleavage threatening to pop the buttons on her shirt. I have to force myself to look away in order to stay in control of myself.

If it was up to my cock, I'd be fucking her here and now.

“You're hot and cold with me. One minute you want me, the next you're acting like nothing's happened. I don't care if you're not looking for anything serious, I'm not saying I am either, but you don't have to treat me like dirt.”

“I haven't treated you like dirt, Oliver, but we're not together. It's not like we're dating, and I need to pour my emotions out to you.”

“You're right, you don't. But that doesn't change how you acted toward me the other day.”

“Didn't we sleep together? I'm pretty sure that doesn't count as being treated like dirt.”

“You also took off and I haven't seen you since. I deserve respect too.”

“Oliver, look—”

“No,” I interrupt. “I'm not saying you're wrong. We're not together, and you don't owe me anything, but there's something about you I like. I like being with you. I like how it feels when my hands are on your body, and how you taste against my lips. I want more of it. You're like a drug, Narissa, and I can't get enough.”

Her lips purse tight as her eyes turn to slits. “I bet you say this to all the girls.”

“All the girls?” My voice raises in volume as my eyes widen. “There are no other girls, there haven't been in a long time.”

“What about my father? What do you think he'd say if he found out about us? You think he'd ever hire you again? You think he wouldn't try and smear you across this fucking city?”

“I don't care about any of that. You want me to walk away from this job? Because I will. I can find other jobs if you're that worried.”

She shakes her head no. “It's not just that, Oliver.”

“Then what? What else is there?” My eyes are open wide, begging her to tell me the truth. I don't want to be strung along. That's not good for either of us.

Narissa's body shifts, her expression softening. “I'm not saying I don't like the way I feel when I'm with you, because I do. But we both know this isn't going to go anywhere. When the job is done, you'll be gone. Maybe my father will hire you again, maybe he won't. And once you're gone, you're gone. That's how it works. People leave, they don't stick around, no matter how long you know them.”

“So you'd rather live your life behind walls keeping you safe? You'd rather live waiting for someone to leave, never allowing them in? We can't see the future, Narissa. No one knows what's going to happen, but you can't live in fear of that. You can't keep yourself in a protected box. It won't save you from feeling pain, it'll only stop you from feeling happiness.”

Narissa peers up at me, nibbling on her bottom lip. It looks like she wants to say something, but I don't let her. I kiss her. I don't want to waste this moment to show her how good it feels to let people in, not to push them away no matter how much it hurts, even if you still lose them in the end.
