Scandalous Engagement - Page 32

“Thank you, sir.”

Once Frisco left them, Reese gestured for Josie to step on into the cabin.

“Go change,” he urged. “I’ll get things ready to go.”

“Don’t you want to change, too?”

He took a step closer, but didn’t reach for her. “Is that an invitation?”

Her eyes clouded with desire, a look that had been new to him only days ago, but now he knew it all too well. Even though they’d only spent one night together, he wanted so much more. One night was not nearly enough time to explore all things Josie.

“Isn’t that why you sent Frisco away?” she asked, quirking a brow.

“I sent him away because I want to spend your birthday with you, under the sun and then the stars, out on the water, without anyone around. He’s done all I needed him to do.”

Her eyes raked down him in a way that he hadn’t experienced before. Reese liked this side of Josie and had to admit his ego swelled a little—okay, more than a little—knowing he had a hand in drawing out her passion.

“Maybe I need help changing into my suit,” she purred as she reached for the hem of her black pencil dress.

She pulled it up and over her head, tossing the garment to the side. Josie stood before him in only a matching black silky bra-and-pantie set and those little black heels. With all of that dark hair pulled back, he wanted to yank the pins out and mess it all up.

“You surprise me,” he told her. “That’s not something I ever thought I’d say with you.”

Josie shrugged. “I may like to plan everything, but I also know what I want.”

Arousal slammed into him.

“And what’s that?” he asked.

With her eyes firmly set on his, she reached for the snap of his dress pants. “More of last night.”

Reese shoved her hands away and wrapped his arms around her waist, hauling her up against his chest as he claimed her mouth. He needed no further permission to take what she so freely offered.

Josie locked her ankles behind his back as Reese crossed the living quarters. The accent table on his way stopped him, though. He wasn’t going to make it to the bedroom, not with the way Josie was clawing at his shirt.

She jerked his shirt up as he dropped his pants and boxer briefs to the floor. Josie laughed as he attempted to toe off his shoes and kick his clothes aside. A few random strands of her hair had fallen across her face, but he wanted her even more out of control.

Reese reached behind her and released the fastener holding her hair up. The silky strands instantly fell around her shoulders and her laugh quickly sobered as she stared up at him.

He gripped her hips and scooted her closer to the edge of the table. When he slid a finger inside her panties to pull them aside, she curled her fingers around his shoulders.

“Protection?” she asked.

He glanced toward the bedroom where he’d been heading. “In there,” he nodded.

She bit down on her lip and jerked her hips against his hand. “I trust you. I just had a checkup and I’m on birth control.”

Reese swallowed. Never in his life had he gone without a condom, and knowing he had the okay to do so with Josie was a hell of an unexpected turn-on.

“I’m clean,” he assured her. “I’d never do anything to hurt you.”

She locked her gaze with his and nodded, giving him the silent affirmation to go ahead.

Holding the thin material aside, Reese slid into her, earning him another of her slow, sultry moans.

He gritted his teeth, taking just a fraction of a moment to relish the fact that no barriers stood between them. This was a first for him.

But the urge and the overwhelming need to have her took hold again and he couldn’t remain still. Josie lifted her pelvis against his, urging him on, and Reese was more than ready to comply.
