Honestly, Cash wasn’t looking for more anyway, and if their friends knew what they were doing, he and Jade would have too many questions to answer. There was nothing wrong with sneaking and taking what they wanted, so long as they were both on the same page. And from the way Jade’s fingers kept raking along his jaw and feathering over his neck, he’d say that wasn’t an issue.
The second Cash stepped into her room, he kicked the door shut. A light from the bathroom filtered in and slashed a glow across the bottom corner of her king-size canopy bed. This room screamed woman and romance. He didn’t do romance, and that certainly wasn’t what tonight was all about.
He knew sex, and he knew this woman in his arms wanted him just as much as he wanted her. Thankfully, she wasn’t asking for more.
When he’d stopped by, he’d wanted her, but he’d also been realistic enough to know she might not feel the same. He followed her lead, he relinquished control for her to do as she pleased. Alcohol or not, Jade wanted him, and he wasn’t about to turn her down.
Cash eased her to her feet, making sure her body brushed against his along the way. He kept his hands on her hips, pulling her to align their bodies just right, and waited for her lids to flutter open.
“Look at me,” he demanded when her response was slower than his sanity could take.
Those bright green eyes landed on him and he tamped down every emotion except need, because it would be all too easy to fall into those eyes and get wrapped up in her world. Sex had to be simple and physical. Nothing else.
This was the only way he knew how to fully guard his heart.
“Tell me you’re sober enough for this.”
A smile spread wide across her face, and he hated how easily this woman affected him. Of course, now that he’d had her, she was under his skin, and he’d been pretty damn proud he’d restrained himself for a whole day. Now that he was here, he wasn’t leaving anytime soon.
“I’ve got a great buzz going on,” she purred, sliding her body all over him. “But I already told you, I’m good. I’m very aware of who is going to strip me out of this dress and have his wicked way with me.”
Mercy. This woman would be the death of him. It was like she read his mind. Who knew for as much hell as they verbally gave each other, the bedroom was the one place they’d mesh perfectly?
“Did you honestly think I’d just text you back and not come over?” He gathered the hem of her dress and bunched it in his hands until it hit her hips. “Did you really think once we left Nashville I was done with you?”
She held her arms above her head, a silent, sexy-as-hell gesture for him to rid her of the dress. In a swift move, he whipped the material over her head and tossed it over his shoulder.
His eyes landed on her nearly naked body. The pale-gray bra and matching lacy panties were nothing less than he expected. He’d already come to realize that Jade was a lover of finer undergarments . . . and he was more than happy to help her enjoy them.
“I didn’t expect Nashville,” she stated, her hands going for the hem of his shirt. “I never expected to enjoy your company and get along with you outside the bedroom, let alone inside.”
He helped her discard the shirt but swatted her hands away when she reached for the snap on his jeans. “Well, the first time was actually on the dining table, so . . .”
Jade trailed her fingertip from just above the snap, over his abs, and up to his chest. Then she went agonizingly slow back down. “Your sarcasm used to drive me insane.”
“Is that so?” he asked, trying his hardest not to suck in his breath as she continued to torture him. How was this tipsy woman holding so much control here? “And now?”
Her eyes followed the path of her finger. “Now you drive me insane in other ways. Like when you’re not touching me when I need you to.”
Jade had to be drunk. She’d never say these things otherwise. There was some truth to her words, at least the truth of her feelings, or she wouldn’t be so aggressive. He wasn’t about to let her regret this or forget everything. Come tomorrow, he’d be all too eager to remind her.
Cash circled her waist, lifted her, and tossed her onto the bed, which earned him a little squeal. Once she was sprawled out in the middle of her mound of pillows and thick comforter, Cash made quick work of removing the rest of his clothes. He grabbed a condom from his wallet and laid it next to her hip.
When he focused back on her face, he caught her staring. In all honesty, he didn’t know if he’d ever get tired of being studied by those emerald eyes. He wanted to know what she was thinking, but from the flush on her cheeks and the heavy breaths coming out, he had a pretty good idea.
Seeing her looking like a damn princess in the middle of this frou-frou bedroom had him wondering what the hell he was doing. Perhaps he was the dirty little secret. Maybe he was pretending he would one day be good enough for someone like Jade McKenzie.
Damn it. He was a filthy mess from working on that stupid engine. He didn’t know what turned Jade on, but he would bet it wasn’t engine oil and sweat.
“I should probably shower before climbing in that bed with you.”
Jade came up onto her elbows and quirked an arched brow. “Maybe we should get into that shower together and then come back here. You know I’m good for more than one location.”
Yeah, he knew. He’d replayed their entire night over and over in his mind. It had been damn difficult to concentrate on the conversations with Jax and Tanner while working on an engine and digging into the computer programming. Jade’s playfulness and passion had taken over every part of his thought process, and he had been of no use to his cousins.
Showering with Jade had images flooding his mind. “I don’t think you can stand on your own, let alone when you’re all wet.”
As if to prove him wrong, she slowly rose to her feet, took the condom between her fingers, and held her arms out to the sides. “I’m perfectly fine, Flex. Besides, I think you can find ways to hold me up.”
