Cash’s entire body eased down on to hers, his forehead resting against hers as his trembling ceased.
Jade’s fingers threaded through his hair and she gave him a gentle tug. “Flex, you’re crushing me.”
Cash thought he was out of energy, but her playfulness pulled him out of his postcoital haze. He slid off the side of the table and, before she could push her messed hair out of her face, Cash picked her up and plastered her against his body. He gripped her legs, giving her no choice but to wrap them around his waist.
She smacked his shoulder. “What are you doing?”
“We’re going to the bedroom.”
“I never said there would be a repeat.”
Cash laughed. Had there been any resistance in her voice, he would’ve stopped, but she didn’t put up much of a defense.
“And I never took you for a bed type of guy,” she added. “You seem more adventurous.”
Cash kicked the door open to her room, filled his hands with her backside, and smiled as he met her gaze. “There you go, thinking of my sex life again.”
He dropped her onto the bed and climbed up after her, chasing her until she had her back against the upholstered headboard.
“And Red, I’m damn adventurous. You’re about to see just how much.”
Chapter Six
“Tell me about the wedding.”
Jade felt the blush creeping up and heating her face. Thankfully, she was only on the phone talking with Livie, not in person.
She’d barely stepped in the door of her house—well, Livie’s old house—before Livie called. Jade felt like she’d been through a war and away for a month, when in reality she’d been gone for only three days.
In three days she’d been in a near plane crash, humiliated by her mother, and had the most satisfying sexual experiences of her life with a man she technically couldn’t stand.
But he’d come to her defense with Brad and her mother. He’d saved her life in the plane and calmed her when she nearly had an anxiety attack.
“Jade.”
Blinking away her memories of the weekend, Jade finished unpacking her suitcase. “Sorry,” she stated. “The wedding was just as elaborate and ridiculous as I figured it would be. The decorations and the outdoor setting was beautiful, but the dresses, the hair, and the makeup were something of a nightmare.”
“That selfie you sent wasn’t your best look,” Livie agreed. “How are you after the plane incident, though? I know we texted, but it’s not the same as hearing your voice. I was worried, but then Jax assured me that Cash would take care of you. I was more concerned about you two killing each other on the way there. I never thought about the plane.”
Jade swallowed and pulled her torn panties from the suitcase. Images of what they’d done on that dining table flooded her mind. Mercy, that man had some mad skills, and she wasn’t so sure she’d ever recover from Cash’s touch . . . or his mouth.
“He handled the landing like a pro.” Jade went into her adjoining bath and tossed the panties in the trash. “How did the meeting go with the city council?”
“Pretty good. They appreciate the monthly updates on the renovations and are eager to bring in more business to the city. They’d heard about the plane incident, so I briefly touched on it, but they’re going to want more information.”
Working on damage control was easy. What wasn’t easy was dealing with all these emotions surrounding Cash and everything they’d crammed into that weekend getaway.
Jade was relieved when her friend didn’t mention the fact that Cash had stayed the weekend. Maybe he hadn’t said anything to Jax. Because if Livie or Melanie knew Cash and Jade had shared a room, the questions would be endless and her friends would’ve been waiting for her on her doorstep.
Focusing on the airport renovations and teaching her yoga classes would hopefully keep her occupied and her mind off the way her body still tingled.
“The council even voted to extend some more funding because the airport is a historical building,” Livie went on. “With the grants, plus that boost from the city, we may not all go into debt.”
Jade smiled. “I don’t mind going into debt when I know it’s for a good cause and I’m pretty sure I’ll get a return on my investment.”
“We’re all in now,” Livie said with a nervous laugh. “But seriously, I’m so glad you’re fine. What do you say about girls’ night in? I’ll get with Melanie and I can bring Piper. She’d love some girl time.”
Piper was absolutely the sweetest little girl and so lucky to have Livie as a stepmother. “Yes, bring her. I’d love some girl time. After the hideous hair and makeup I had this weekend, I’m ready to do something normal and just relax.”
