Rush - Page 49

“Yeah. I could.” I sweep her hair aside and clamp my teeth to the back of her neck, and then lick and kiss the spot. The more she gives me little pieces of herself but holds the rest out of my reach, the harder I burn. “So could you.”

Guess I like playing with fire, too.

“Good workout. Don’t forget to stretch.”

I head back out into the larger room and take a drink from my water bottle. Dree gets down onto her yoga mat, her cute little ass in the air as she stretches her calves out. Even though I’ve just come, my cock stirs to life.

Hurt me, Rush.

Every time she asks me for something, I draw her a little deeper into my heart. It’s intoxicating knowing I’m the only one who can do this for her. I want to take my time making that ass of hers nice and red with the palm of my hand. Remind her that she’s mine and show her that this isn’t a casual fuck between us. There’s nothing casual about the way I want to own her, inside and out.

I kneel down beside her and put my lips close to her ears. “My bedroom is at the top of the stairs to the right. Come find me tonight.”

Dree looks at me, her reddened lips parted. Then she nods.

“Good girl.”

I stroll out of the room and upstairs to hit the shower. She chose a pushy man, so I’ll push her hard.

I barely see Dree throughout the day. The dancers arrive and I presume she’s busy with them while I’m locked in the studio. I don’t even get to eat with her as I cram a burrito in my face between takes.

I don’t make my way upstairs until ten, rolling my shoulders as I go. There’s no sign of Dree, but she’ll wait until the house is settled before she sneaks over to my room.

I thought she would, anyway. The house has been silent and dark for thirty minutes and she hasn’t appeared. I check my phone and email. Nothing from her.

At a quarter past eleven, I get tired of waiting and go find her. When I knock on her bedroom door, a high, nervous voice calls, “Who is it?”

“Who do you think?” I growl, and she opens the door.

I glare down at her white silk cami and tiny shorts. She looks like an innocent little present, all wrapped up. “Why the fuck are you dressed like this if you’re not in my goddamn room?”

“I was going to come, I just…” she trails off, looking anguished.

I push past her, grab her fluffy white robe from the back of a chair and wrap it around her. Then I take her hand.

She walks by my side, her cheeks flaming red. She looks so cute like that I have to reach up and pinch her cheek. “Embarrassed, baby?”

She darts a look up at me, and whispers, “Self-conscious.”

When I get her into my room, I have a good look at her. She’s not just self-conscious. She’s tied up in knots about something. “What is it? You’re stressing about something.”

“I’ve been thinking about what you asked me this morning. And last night.”

Satisfaction threads through me and I can’t help the smile that curves my lips. I always did enjoy getting what I want. “Yeah, baby?”

Tell Daddy you’re his. Go on, princess.

“You’re going to laugh at me, or think I’m presumptuous.”

Me, the king of presumption. I doubt that. “You’d better not say anything then.”

“Really?”

“No! Fucking tell me. And I won’t laugh or think anything except to be glad you’ve told me what’s on your mind.”

She takes a deep breath. “I’ve never…”

She looks so agonized and innocent that for a shocking second, I wonder if she’s going to tell me she’s a virgin. Then I remember that’s impossible after the things we’ve done together, and she definitely wasn’t the first time we had sex.

“Had a boyfriend before,” she whispers. “Or a lover. Or a thing. Whatever this is.”

She looks at my hand on her shoulder. That seems strange to her, too. She stiffens up when I touch her and kiss her outside of sex like it’s weird to her. “How the hell does a girl as beautiful as you get this far in life without receiving a scrap of affection?”

“I never let it happen. I sort of just…run away before anyone has time to give me any. But now you’ve got me trapped in this house.”

Yes, I fucking do, I think darkly. Right where I want her.

“I haven’t told anyone about…” She tugs on the collar of my shirt. “This. I don’t think I can.”

We’ll see about that. “Why not?”

She thinks about it, her teeth on her lower lip. “I was younger than my friends when I lost it. You remember what it’s like to be fifteen. If it gets out you’re having sex, everyone talks about you and calls you a slut, even if it’s only been once. That’s how it is for girls anyway. I got in the habit of hiding everything, and it felt good. My little secret. I enjoyed everyone thinking I was so aloof. It’s a kind of power to be so icy when you’re a woman. I don’t know if you can understand that.”
