Her Ride (Men of Valor MC) - Page 3

Twenty-two plus forty-two still equals trouble in my book, anyone else, any other time I’d say no to the thoughts I’m having.

I’d normally dismiss the idea of being with anyone.

At forty-two, with a covert military past, I know I’m not the best candidate for any woman.

Least of all a girl half my age.

But as soon as I see her from behind, that fine ass and those childbearing hips flashing through my mind, the alpha male in me stirs.

I need to protect her, keep her safe.

Make her mine.

The thought almost scares me, but everything about this girl is just different.

Protect her more than anything, that’s what I want. Get her out of this damned rain at least.

I wanted to pull up behind her, but she’s probably had that all night. Creeps and weirdos looking her up and down.

Ogling her curves, straining through dark denim. Her smooth skin showing under a wet white T-shirt.

I don’t feel that way. I’m not just impressed by her curvy body.

I feel like I’m looking at what’s already mine like I just have to do my job from here on out, to get her where she needs to be.

In my arms, and safe at home. Warm and dry.

My home, not the home I can tell she’s running from.

Girls don’t leave Valor without a ring or a reason, and this one doesn’t appear to have a ring.

Yet.

Not that I’m a ladies’ man. Not by a long shot.

But I know when I see something I want. I feel it deep inside.

And I’m feeling it alright.

Like a rescued lamb, she’s on my bike with her hands finding my waist like they were made for it.

But I can’t have her, not until I know more and not until I know she even wants me.

But when she hooks those arms ‘round me.

Once I feel her press herself into the back of me as I rev harder, taking us both home.

I know maybe. Just maybe, this Thorn has found his Rose after all.

The rain eases as we pull away, and I feel her tense up as we head back towards Valor.

“You don’t have to go home if you don’t want,” I tell her over my shoulder, relieved once I feel her nestle into me.

Alarmed at how hard she’s making me, wondering how I’m gonna deal with this as a member of the Men of Valor MC.

My own member seems to have ideas of its own.

Normally, we’d take any strays who need help or protection straight to the clubhouse, or the bar we own when push comes to shove.

But tonight, with Rose, I’m probably breaking more rules than one when I decide to take her home with me.

But what the others don’t know won’t hurt them for now. Once I know her story we can look at involving the club.

If that’s even necessary.

Most members have their hands full, myself included right now. Dealing with the next generation of low life’s who’ve infiltrated the local police and business owners in the area.

High class scum, many of which own a badge as well as a gun, making them the worst kind to deal with.

Law enforcement gone bad is a rotten apple. And hardest of all to get rid of when the ones trying to do the cleaning up are looked down on by the law.

But the Men of Valor MC have more friends than enemies. Those we help have long memories and there’s never a shortage of favors to call in.

Something about this girl though, I get the feeling it’s gonna be me and the club she’s calling in a favor from.

That’s alright, it’s what we do.

My place isn’t far, nothing is in Valor. And as I rev the throttle waiting for the electric security gate to open, I feel her tense up again for a moment before she relaxes once we ride on through.

When we both see the gate close and the only thing waiting for both of us is a warm and dry place, it’s my raging hardness I know I have to worry about.

I don’t want to frighten her, but damn what this girl is doing to me already.

I casually take the helmet she had on and use it to cover myself as I let us inside.

“You… actually live here?” she asks timidly as we step inside.

“Most days,” I tell her, not minding the mess we’re both leaving in the entrance hall’s slate tiles.

“I’m all wet,” she confesses, shivering as I scan her curves one last time before getting us both some towels.

Better get used to it. You’re gonna be Thorn’s Rose now.

Chapter Three

Rose

Judging the book by its cover, I just assumed… but this place is a damned mansion compared to anywhere else in Valor.

“Wait, I don’t even know your name!” I call after him as he disappears into another part of the huge house.
