Make Me, Sir (Doms of Decadence 5) - Page 66

“We picked Maddy up at her house and brought her in to the station for questioning. She’s not saying anything. Without a confession, we only have her on an attempted break-in, and a good lawyer would probably argue against that successfully. I wish we knew what her motive was.”

“I think I might know,” Reagan said, surprising them all. “She and Paul grew up together. They went to the same school. It looks like they were close.”

Roarke frowned. “You think she might have done this because of what happened between you and Paul?”

“Yes.”

“How did you discover this?” Tiny asked, surprised. It was the first he’d heard of this.

“It was on her Facebook account.”

“She didn’t have her security settings on?” Jack seemed surprised.

“No, she did. I hacked into her account.”

“You did what?” he whispered.

She looked at him guiltily. “I hacked into her account. It’s okay, she’ll never know. I’m good.”

“Oh, I have no doubt.” He was certain she was more than good. “How often do you do things like that?”

“Ahh, not that often.”

“I’m going to pretend I never heard any of this,” Jack told them. “I guess I don’t need to tell you that’s illegal.”

“Don’t worry, won’t happen again,” Tiny assured him.

Reagan frowned and opened her mouth, but he shook his head at her.

“You think Paul put her up to this?” Jack asked.

“Perhaps,” Roarke said.

“What about the florist? She said it was a man who paid for those flowers?” Reagan asked.

“Maddy could have paid someone to buy the flowers,” Jack told her.

“I want to talk to Henderson,” Tiny demanded.

Roarke nodded. “I’ll make a call.”

He disappeared into the kitchen.

“We’ll talk later,” Tiny warned Reagan.

She sighed. “I can guess how that conversation is going to go. You’re going to order me not to hack into any more sites. I’m going to tell you I only do it when necessary. You’ll glare at me. I’ll glare back. You’ll threaten to spank me. I’ll tell you to bring it on. Then we’ll kiss and make up.”

He gave her a stern look. “It’s against the law. It’s dangerous. You’ll stop.”

“Fine. If I have to.”

“You do.”

Roarke returned. “He’s agreed to meet with you at my office in an hour.”

Tiny didn’t like the way the Jack studied Reagan. He glared at the other man. It was his job to take care of Reagan. Reagan might not think that Jack was interested in her, but Tiny thought differently.

And Jack could just back the hell off.
