Alarm - Page 105

“That’s better,” he said. “Now spread your legs for me, knees up.”

I licked my lips and did as he said, bending my knees at his sides and raising my hips slightly. He looked down at me as a slow smile spread across his face. He looked back at me, pressed his lips against my shoulder, and then moved up my neck.

“Are you ready for this, Chloe?” he cooed in my ear, the softness of his voice contrasting with his words. “Are you ready to get fucked?”

“Yes,” I whispered back. “Please.”

I wrapped my arms under his and held tightly to his shoulders, preparing myself for the onslaught. Aiden held himself over me, balanced on one hand as he took the shaft of his cock in the other and slowly pushed into me.

“Oh, yeah…Oh, fuck! I missed this…” Aiden buried his face in my neck and moaned.

It seemed like forever since I had felt him inside of me and heard his intoxicating words invade my ears as he pounded into me over and over again. The blur of his marked body swirled in my eyes as he moved, keeping me from being able to focus on anything other than the full, tight feeling of his body meshing with mine.

With soft strokes, I ran my hands over the lines of ink on his chest and arms. I traced the cross covering his shoulder and bicep, using my fingertip to write over his name inscribed down the middle of it—A HUNTER. For a moment, I wondered what it really meant. Was it simply a representation of his name or a declaration of his mission to bring his son’s killers to justice?

He gripped my hip with his hand, and my fingers slid up around his shoulder and down his back, landing on his ass. I gripped the muscles there, feeling them tighten and release as he plowed into me. I closed my eyes and just let myself feel his hands on me, caressing my sides, stroking my breasts, and running up and down my legs.

With my thighs gripping his sides, I pushed up, deepening his penetrations and crushing his hand between our bodies. He continued his quick movements over my clit, and I shuddered, giving in to the intense feeling as I cried out for him.

The muscles of his ass tightened beneath my hands as he pushed forward a final time. I felt the warmth of his semen inside of me as he shuddered.

“Chloe, Chloe…oh, baby, you’re so fucking perfect. You’re perfect for me.”

I wrapped my arms around his head and held him against my shoulder as both of us tried to regain control of our breathing. His lips pressed to the side of my neck, and I leaned my cheek against the top of his head.

All the feelings of security and comfort I’d had in the past returned—this time without reservations.

And with that, I knew I wanted to make this work.

EIGHTEEN

“Will you come back for the weekend?” Aiden asked as he carried my bag toward airport security. “I’d just head up there to see you, but the police want me to stick around town in case they locate Marc and Hayden.”

“I’ll have to see,” I said. “I’m going to be behind at work—I’d just gotten caught up from being here before, and I kind of had it out with my boss the day before I left. I have no idea what I’ll be walking into tomorrow. I may have to work this weekend to make up for some of it. Maybe the next weekend?”

“At least I’d have something to look forward to,” Aiden said with a smile. “That might keep me going through the week.”

At the security checkpoint, we had to part ways. Aiden leaned down to kiss me softly, and I squeezed his hands.

“Hang in there,” I told him as I ran my fingers up over his inked arms. “I’ll call you when I get home.”

“You’d better!” He gave me one last hug.

The flight back was uneventful, leaving me to continue my ponderings. Now that I understood everything that had happened, I was able to focus on the whole idea of a long-distance relationship instead of what secrets Aiden might be hiding from me. It should have been easier, but I found I was almost as distressed by the idea of trying to make things work from so far away as I had been when I wondered about Aiden’s occupation.

At least now I would be able to talk to Mare about it. She was going to laugh at me for being so distrustful now that I knew the truth, but I could live with that. I was also dreading my return to work in the morning, which was actually a decent distraction.

As promised, I called Aiden when I got home. We talked about the mundane for the most part, but I did make him promise to seek out his friends over the weekend instead of staying home by himself. He said he would, and I threatened to follow up with Redeye to make sure he made good on that promise.

Opening up my laptop for the first time in days, I checked my personal email. I found a message from Nate’s recruiter, Brian, who said he had a couple of opportunities that seemed to fit my skillset. I emailed him back with my availability for a lunch meeting sometime next week.

It was good to have something promising. I only hoped it would work out.

At work the next day, I walked into a firestorm.

“Hey, Chloe!”

I looked down the hall to see Matt, the guy in charge of major problems with the IT systems. It was never a good thing to have him searching for me before I even got to my desk. He bustled down the hallway, holding a pad of paper under his arm. He had a pen shoved between his teeth as he tapped on his phone.
