Cowboy Kisses (Kissing Junction, TX 9) - Page 10

“It was my pleasure, Lorelei, really. I just hate that you won’t be living with me anymore. I’m going to be all alone again.”

“Oh Karlene. I am sorry. I didn’t think of it that way.”

“Of course, you didn’t, Lei. I wouldn’t expect you to. This is the most exciting thing to ever happen to you. Don’t worry about me.”

“Karlene, we should set you up. There’s lot of guys on the ranch.”

“Oh no. That’s not necessary, please,” she says looking anywhere but us.

“You like someone, don’t you?”

“No, of course not.”

“Really?” Lorelei asks, eyebrow raised.

“It’s more than like, really, but he doesn’t even know that I exist.”

“Who? Tell me?” Lorelei demands bouncing in her seat.

“No. No way. Let’s order. Shouldn’t we order?” Karlene asks all in one breath.

Smiling, I signal for a waitress, who comes over.

“Hi. What can I get ‘cha?”

“I’ll have a Western Omelet and some more coffee please,” Karleen says.

“Well, I’ve worked up quite an appetite, I’ll have the waffles and bacon please. Sprit to drink,” Lorelei says.

“I’ll have a cheeseburger and some fries. A coffee as well. Thank you.”

The waitress moves away, and a new topic of conversation is brought up.

After we eat, I pay the bill and we head out to the sidewalk. Karlene and Lorelei say goodbye. They hug like they are never going

to see each other again.

“What now?” Lorelei asks.

“I need to go grocery shopping, but we should head into Dallas for that. More of a selection.”

“Sounds good. I’d like to go to a bookstore if that’s okay.”

“Anything you want, Kitten.” We walk hand in hand to the truck and I lift her into it. Kissing her, I walk around the truck and hop into the driver’s seat.

After spending the better part of the day in Dallas, we head home. Home, with my girl has a nice ring to it. Side by side, we put the groceries away.

“I’m gonna cook. Do you like steak?” she asks.

“Hell yeah. The rarer the better,” I respond.

“Me too,” she says kissing my cheek. “Isn’t there some sort of college ball game on you’d like to watch so I can work my magic?”

“Sure, Kitten. Holler if you need me,” I say leaving her to it.

I hate that we are one day closer to Monday when she must go back to school, but at least with my ring on her delicate finger, everyone will know that she belongs to me.
