Sweet Kisses - Page 9

“I just snorted. You so sure you wouldn't feed me a white lie?”

“It was an adorable sound, my Kotyonok.” God, I love when he calls me that. It makes me melt inside.

“Do you not wish to tell me about your family or show me inside your home?” Victor asks after a moment. I peek up at him again. We’re almost to the beach.

“I just-”

“I will earn your trust,” he says before I can finish.

“My place is a mess.” I tuck my hair behind my ear. “I’m kinda messy,” I admit. Everything in Victor’s office is in perfect order except for the mess we made. Smooth always jokes that I’m the messiest efficient person she’s ever seen. That’s because I do five million things at once. It’s just how I work. The more organized I get the less efficient I get, oddly. It’s how I am. I’ve come to terms with it but others don’t care for it if they have to share a space with me. My sisters, for example. They refused to share a room with me growing up.

“I can take care of your messes.” I don’t think he’s talking only about the mess that is my place but also the mess that landed me down here to begin with. I am thankful for it. It has gotten me here. I love it here. “It’s not that I don’t think you can. It is that I want the privilege of doing so.”

“You’re good with your words.” I let out a sigh. What can I even say to that?

“Most say I have few

words.”

“Well, the ones you have I rather enjoy.” This gets me a smile as he guides me over toward an area he called ahead to block off. Food is already coming out. He takes my bag from my arm as he guides me to sit.

“This looks wonderful.”

When I glance back to Victor he is looking down at his phone.

“Everything okay?” I start to stand.

“Fine, Kotyonok. I was only checking so I could confirm everything was good before you asked.”

“Oh.” He really is all over this taking care of me thing. “Are you going to join me?” I motion to the other lounge chair.

“I will when they bring another shade.” He glances behind him. “Your skin is too delicate to sit in the sun.” It’s then I realize he’s actually standing in the path of the sun, casting a shadow over me.

“I brought sunscreen.” I reach for my bag.

“Yes, I will apply when the screen gets here. I cannot take the chance of the sun harming you. I will protect you from its harmful rays.” My body heats. I don’t know if it’s thinking about him running his hands all over me to put on sunscreen or the fact that he’s being a human shield.

“I think my skin will be fine for a few minutes.” I fight a smile. I have to bite my lip to do it.

“It is here.” He directs the men where to position the screen before he rushes them off, leaving us alone.

He does run sunscreen all over my skin. He does other things too, giving me the same pleasure he had in his office. I find myself coming up with reasons for him to do things so I have to pay him with kisses. I forget about work and everything else. If Victor isn’t careful he’ll earn more than my trust. He’ll earn my heart too. He’s made it clear that’s what he’s after but I’m not so sure he knows what he’s in for when it comes to me.

Chapter 7

Victor

Violet falls asleep after the last orgasm. Her body is wrung out with pleasure. Filled with satisfaction, I reach inside my pants and give my raging hard-on a violent squeeze. It is not time to take her, no matter how much I desire it. She hasn’t fully given herself over to me and I will not consummate our relationship until my ring is on her finger and her heart is in my hands.

I command myself to stand down so that I may attend to my duties. My body reluctantly obeys.

Beyond the screen, I find King waiting for me.

“I have an update.” He hands me a sheaf of papers.

“Thank you. And the hotel?”

“All is secure. Lennox and Smooth are touring the property together.”
