Falling For You (Love In All Seasons 2) - Page 110

He chuckles. “I don’t know about that. You seemed to love getting wet around me.”

I groan. “You’re terrible.”

“You’re the one who said it.” He laughs, then says with a more serious tone. “And as much as I love getting you wet, that’s not all I want. I want you, Ava McIntyre.”

“Come to the haunted house with me tomorrow.”

“I’ll come where you want, sweetheart.”

Is it wrong that my pussy clenches and my core begins to ache with his sexual innuendos? Maybe, but I can’t help it.

“You have a dirty mouth,” I say, unable to hold back the smile that tugs at my lips.

“We both know you like it dirty, darling.”

This time I give a full belly laugh. “I’ll see you, tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow,” he repeats. “And Ava?”

“Yeah?”

“You won’t regret taking a chance on me.”AndyTwenty-four hours is too long to wait to see Ava, but we both have midterms to study for. And while I’m just getting to know the real Ava, I do know that school is her priority right now, just like mine is football.

Practice is killer, my muscles are more than sore by the time we’ve finished our drills. However, knowing that scouts will be watching my every move, suddenly gives me more drive than I’ve had in months. I don’t know where things will end with Ava-- but I sure know what path I want to take with her. I want to share my goddamn life with that girl, and that means being able to take care of her, support her.

“You killed it on the field today, son,” Coach McCleary says as we head to the locker room. “You are gonna have your pick when it comes to NFL teams.”

I nod. “That would be incredible.”

“And idea where you might want to play?”

I lift my eyebrows, knowing exactly where I want to go. Ava’s hometown. “I’m thinking D.C. might be nice.”

“Nice, the Redskins are a solid team this year. I can’t wait to see what happens, Andy.” Coach claps me on the back and I admit to feeling a surge of pride at his encouragement. For a long time, I guess I’ve been seeing football as an obligation, a duty -- not a sense of fulfillment.

The next evening in the kitchen I hear a bunch of guys talking about going to the haunted house tonight.

“Guess all the girls at Mi Alpha Alpha were assigned their own room at the mansion to decorate,” a sophomore says.

“I hope someone made a kinky sex dungeon,” Connor snorts. This guy is a fucking piece of work. “Maybe Ava will tie you up, Andy.”

I lift my eyebrows. “Not cool. I told you once not to mention her name. I’m not going to say it again, understood?”

“You’re serious about her?” he asks.

“Damn straight. She’s my girl.” Then I leave the kitchen and the house. I need to see my Halloween honey. When I get to the mansion I’m glad to see there are cars lining the street. It is the perfect fall evening. A chill to the air, but clear skies. It’s awesome that these sorority sisters chose to give back like this. It makes me excited about what charity work I’ll be able to do if I sign with a team this winter.

“Hey there, Andy Stafford!” the blonde ticket taker asks when I get to the front of the line.

“Do I know you?” I ask, taking in the entrance of the haunted house. Carved pumpkins are lit, spooky music echoes around us, and ghosts hang from the big oak trees in the yard.

“Probably not, but everyone knows you.” She laughs. “I’m Jeanie by the way.”

“Well, Jeannie,” I say, adding my donation to the box on the table next to her. “I’m here to see Ava McIntyre. Any idea where she might be?”

Jeanie’s eyebrows raise. “Oh, I know where she is.” She giggles. “You’re gonna love what she planned. When you get upstairs, hang a right. The first room on the left.”

“Thanks,” I say, wondering what she means by that. But before I can think about it too much, the line behind me forces me to pick up the pace and enter the house.

It’s haunted and eerie and cackling laughter echoes from a surround system. College students fill every corridor I pass, but I don’t stop to say hello. I’m headed for the stairs--nowhere else.

I climb them quickly as thick fog surrounds my ankles. The pictures on the wall move--making me think I unknowingly took a portal into Harry Potter World at Universal Studios.

After taking a right at the top of the stairs, I quickly find myself in front of the first door on the left. There’s a card hanging from the door handle, and I take it off to read.

“Please wait, Housekeeping is in the room!”

Looking around, I see lots of couples sneaking into rooms, groping hands, and sultry laughter everywhere. Unsure, I knock.
