Wolf's Fake Bride (Shifter Marriage Service Book 1) - Page 20

As they slow danced across the floor, weaving their tale for the public, many of which were his fellow club members, she found it hard to breathe. It had been a long time since she had felt such a pull toward a man, and she had thought it would be a while before she ever would. Yet, her she was, practically swooning over a man who was paying her to pretend they were into one another.

The urge to pull away, to excuse herself and get ahold of her runaway train libido, was strong, but she stayed fast. This was the job, she kept telling herself. The agreement had said no sex, only public affection, but at this moment, it was a rule she was willing to toss out. The fact that all she could currently think about was of a carnal nature did not bode well for her maintaining a professional distance.

“What do you say we get out of here?” he said.

“I’d like that,” she cooed back at him.

“Follow my bike in your car,” he told her, stopping off at a nearby table to say something to some guys there. There were smiles and knowing nods as they checked her out approvingly and then he returned to usher her out the door.

Jo was heady with the lingering effects of his kiss, with his body having been pushed against hers on the dance floor. She followed his bike as he drove down the main road and pulled onto a dirt lot that seemed to go on forever before ending in front of an old log cabin. It looked a bit rough on the outside and she wondered if it was another property where he took girls he didn’t want to know his home address.

“Come on in,” he told her, shutting down his bike and waiting for her to make her way toward the front door. He unlocked it and waved her in, reaching for a light fixture inside as they entered.

For all the austerity of the outer shell, the inside was cozy and warm. It looked like some sort of lodge men would stay in for a winter hunting trip, which she guessed was probably what it was. She wasn’t going to ask.

“Wine?” he asked, reaching for a bottle from the cabinet.

“I have to drive back home later.”

“Nah. You can crash here. There are two bedrooms. It’ll look better for appearances if you stay the night.”

“Do you really think anyone is going to know out here?”

“You forget who you are dealing with. Wolf shifters roam these woods at all hours. They will see your car or the fact that it is not here.”

“Won’t it ruin your reputation to have a woman spend the night rather than doing what she came here for and going home?”

“That’s what I’m hoping for, isn’t it?”

Jo considered this and realized he was right. She was supposed to be a keeper.

“What should we do then?”

“I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted. I had a long day and it’s late. I thought we might have a couple drinks and maybe watch something on the tube before bedtime.”

“Best first date ever,” she muttered.

“Worth millions,” he countered.

“Touché,” she replied.

There was nothing notable about the rest of the evening. No playful banter. No getting to know one another. Just vegging out in front of the television with a bottle of wine and a quickly fading libido. She reminded herself she was being paid to be here, but it was hard not equating it all to a failed date.

After a while, King showed her the spare bedroom and its adjoining bathroom. He left her there to sleep and went to the other room to do the same. She tried her best to sleep but spent most of it just staring at the ceiling, finally drifting off a few hours before daylight was due on the horizon.

The dream had caught her by surprise.

“Will you stay with me a while longer?” King had asked in the depths of her slumber.

“Of course,” she told him, standing and reaching for his hand.

They walked quietly into the house, pushing the door closed behind them and leaning against it as they kissed again, neither of them holding anything back. Their heated kisses led to an urgency they couldn’t deny, their clothes slowly falling to the floor as they peeled them from one another on the way to his bedroom. There was no going back as their naked bodies intertwined across his bed, exploring one another eagerly.

“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered against her skin, planting soft kisses as he took a slow tour of her perfect contours. Her back arched toward him as he made his way from the soft globes of her breasts to her rapidly moistening center and lapped at her velvetclit. She moaned beneath him as he grew more and more aggressive with his tongue, suckling her clit while she writhed beneath him in ecstasy. Her nails dug into the bed, her hips rising to meet his mouth as he quickly brought her to one of several orgasms and eagerly drank the fruit of his labors.
