Living On A Dare (Cheap Thrills 2) - Page 79

Just as I said, “Yes!” he pressed down hard and rubbed both of his fingers against the spot inside me again, and I came hard. It was at this juncture, as it swept through my body, that I had a thought – if he continued doing that to my g-spot, I was going to die. Sure, I’d be buried with a huge smile on my face seeing as how I died from an orgasm, but it wasn’t in my life plans to die this early.

It wasn’t until he finally withdrew his digits and lay down next to me that I realized what he’d said, and the weight of it hit me. He wanted me to have his baby. Turning on my side to face him, I raised a hand and cupped his jaw, needing to get this out.

“I want to have a baby with you one day, in fact I want it desperately. But what about Liv?”

Frowning, he turned his head and kissed my palm as he pulled me closer to him on the mattress. “What about Liv?”

“She won’t be yours, and she might feel left out,” I explained, the pain in my heart at the thought of it was almost overwhelming. “I keep thinking about how I would have felt if Wylda had ever settled down with one man and had another kid, how much of an outsider I would have felt.”

Chancing a look at his face, I froze when I saw how pissed off he looked. “Let me set your mind at ease on this, Jose,” he growled. “Liv is mine. The day that you agree to become my wife, and that day will come, we’ll see a lawyer and look at me adopting her. But make no mistake about it, with or without my last name, she is mine.” Rolling onto his back, he didn’t give me a chance to say anything back to him – not that I could have. I was overwhelmed by it all, but in such a fucking good way. “I wanted to discuss this with you properly and see where your head was at with it all, but then I thought about the first time I held her, all the moments we’ve had together since that day, and it clicked. That baby is mine, all that’s left now is the legal formality that gives her my name. I don’t give a flying fuck about DNA, it makes no difference to me, I love her as much as I’ll love any kid that we have together. So, if you’re ok with me adopting her, then it’s happening.”

I felt the first tear roll across the bridge of my nose before it dropped onto the sheet under me. “Are you serious?” I croaked, doing my best to hold in the ugly, happy cry that I needed to have. There was no doubting how much he loved her, but to hear him put it into words?

Totally living our best life.

Turning his head so that he was looking at me again, he snapped, “Of course I’m fucking serious. Hell, I even looked at if it was possible yet to introduce DNA so that she at least had some of mine. I mean, we can do blood and plasma transfusions, we can do bone marrow transfusions, so it wouldn’t be that far a stretch to strip his from her. They could harvest whatever DNA and shit they needed from me and join it to hers.”

Biting my lip, I held a sob in, breathing deeply and praying to the world with thanks for sending me this man. I genuinely never had a dream about a happily ever after, even with Larry I knew deep down that I wasn’t going to have one, but I settled for a happily now because it was better than never experiencing it. This man was my happily ever after!

“And do they do that?” I asked, knowing full well that it wasn’t possible. Maybe one day in the future we’d be able to do it – I wouldn’t put anything past science these days – but right now it was a no. “No,” he mumbled, looking pissed off as he ran his hand over his head. “But she’s taking my name, at least we can do that.”

Reaching for the hand closest to me, I gave it a tug to get his attention. “I replay the first time I saw you holding her and treating her like she was a precious wonder over in my head every day. Every time I see you with Liv I struggle to breathe because you’re both so in sync and have a natural bond that’s grown into something truly beautiful. When the day comes that you’re ready to do it, I want her to have your name, too.”

He stayed silent after I said the last word, just looking at me like he was seeing me for the first time. I never thought that expression would be romantic, in fact I thought it would be sterile if I ever saw it in real life, but it wasn’t. It was like everything had clicked into place for him and he was looking at me trying to figure out if I was real. And then the biggest smile grew on his face and he lunged at me, taking me to my back with him resting on his elbows over me.
