Waiting on the One (Player Loves Curves 3) - Page 12

I hold my body over hers and stare down at her. She’s beautiful, but right now with the sweat glistening her brow and her swollen lips, she’s breathtaking. “Are you okay?”

She opens her eyes and stares up at me before cupping my jaw. “I’m perfect.”

I chuckle then. “Yes, yes you are.”

I pull out of her slowly and she grimaces. I make quick work of cleaning both of us up before I climb into bed beside her. With her pressed up against me, my length is already growing again. Surprise shows on her face, but I just shake my head. “Don’t worry. I know you’re sore. I can wait.”

I thread our legs together and pull her against me with her head under my chin and against my heart. “I’m glad I waited for you,” I mumble into her hair.

I can feel her lips raise into a smile against my skin. “Me too.”

It’s the bottom of the ninth inning and the Mavericks are down by one run. We have two outs, a runner on third and Reagan is up to bat. I can’t even breathe I’m so nervous for him. The first pitch is a swing and a miss. I clench my hands together in front of me and close my eyes. When I hear the ball hit the mitt again, there is a groan from the crowd around me, and I know it was another strike. I raise my head and say a silent prayer that he hits the ball. The pitcher takes his time and when the ball leaves his hand, I suck in a breath and hold it. It’s a curve ball that dropped fast and Reagan swung and missed again. The third strike and the end of the ballgame.

Reagan drops his head and walks toward the dugout. At the last minute, he lifts his eyes to me and gives me a wink before disappearing behind the wall. Remembering how Carter acted when he struck out, I’m already preparing myself for a rough night. Reagan and I had plans to meet up at my house after the game, but I’m guessing he may not be in the mood.

I gather my things up and drive back to my house, not waiting for him outside the clubhouse like I normally would.

An hour later, my doorbell rings. I open it and Reagan smiles at me briefly before I step back and let him in. He’s on edge and I fidget my hands in front of me. I know he’s in a foul mood and I’m ready for him to be a jerk like Carter would’ve been. “I’m sorry about the game.”

He just shrugs his shoulders. “Where’d you go? I figured you would’ve waited for me.”

I reach out for him then because it’s what I wanted to do in the first place but held back. I make a quick decision that however he reacts, I’m going to deal with it. I put my arms around his waist. “Well, I figured you would not be in the mood for company.”

He pulls my hair back and holds it in his hand at the nape of my neck. “You’re not company.”

I laugh. “You know what I mean.”

His smile disappears and he shakes his head. “No. Whether I win or lose, I want you with me, honey.”

I slide my hands up his chest and wrap them around his neck, pulling him down to me. “I’m good with that,” I whisper right before I touch my lips to his.

He pulls my skirt up and yanks my panties down my legs. “As a matter of fact, I hate to lose, but I couldn’t get the thought of you out of my head. Seeing you, having you, puts all of it into perspective.”

He unzips his pants and his hard cock pops out as he pulls his pants and underwear down his hips. He doesn’t step out of them. Instead, he lifts me up and holds me over him until I’m settled and impaled on him. I moan at the hot friction of him sliding deep inside me.

Groaning, I moan against his lips, “Yeah, I guess losing isn’t so bad.”

He pulls back and stares into my eyes. “I never lose as long as I have you.”

I’m about tired of listening to Carter run his mouth from the bench, but I’m not going to get into it with him. I’m not surprised that he’s all burned up with jealousy that Jackie and I are in the tabloids as baseball’s cutest couple. I know that he’s just jealous that he fucked it up with Jackie and he doesn’t deserve her.

We’re in the third game of the series and after last night’s loss, I figured I would be stressed out today. But Jackie took care of that. I’m more relaxed than I’ve ever been and when we get to the bottom of the ninth, I know we’re going to win it. I hit a two-run homerun earlier to take the lead and when Anderson from the Devils hits a pop-up straight to me, I catch it with ease to end the ballgame. As I jog to the dugout, I wave at Jackie. I’m hoping after last night, she realizes that I want her to wait on me this time.
