Reed's Reckoning - Page 101

“Holy fucking shit. I’m never leaving your body.” He pants. “I’m glad the last memory of my hair is of your hands running through it.”

“What do you mean?”

“Tonight before the game, a bunch of us shave our heads. It makes it cooler for the season.”

The thought of Reed’s beautiful hair being gone shocks me. But then, I think of how hot he’ll look shaved. I don’t have time to ponder because Davis yells for me down the hall. I jump off of Reed, immediately missing the fullness and run to the bathroom. Reed yells to Davis that he’ll be right there and grabs his shorts. Blowing him a kiss, I shut the door. One thing’s for sure, after three earthshattering orgasms, I’m not nervous about tonight anymore.

Chapter 30

Reed

This feels fucking great—the lights, the blaring music, the screaming fans. I’ve missed this. But tonight feels different because there’s an entire cheering section of people I love.

“Number eighty-eight, REEEEEDDDD MAATTHHHEWS!!!” I hear my name and start my jog onto the field slapping hands with my teammates as I run through them. When I hit the sideline, I look up to the box and see everyone cheering.

Davis and Ari both wore my jersey and a sense of pride fills me. Luke is holding Davis up and pointing down to the sideline. I give him a smile and slide my eyes to Ari, who is jumping up and down with my mom and Sophie. She’s got the dimples going and I think back to just hours ago when I was buried deep in her. Not wanting to grow a hard on in my cup, I point to my head and she laughs nodding. She likes the haircut.

The familiar adrenaline pumps through me when it’s time to lineup. The quarterback and I have great chemistry on the field. We read each other well. As soon as the ball snaps, I take off running, turning around to see it sailing through the air. As soon as I catch it, I make a split second decision to try and spin out but the corner catches me around the chest and we go down. Two hundred and forty pounds covers me and I struggle to break free.

The guy helps me up and we run back to the line of scrimmage. I glance at the box and see Ari’s hand covering her mouth and a look of absolute panic. Luke shakes his head at me smiling. This is going to be a long season for her if she can’t handle seeing me tackled.

I play the entire first quarter before coach pulls me out and I sit on the bench with the receiver’s coach. We cover my stats and with six receptions and one touchdown, I am on track with last year before my injury. The rest of the game seems to drag on. When we hit the locker room after it’s over, I get a text from Ari telling me she went ahead and went home because Davis fell asleep.

Usually after a game, I’m pumped and ready to go out, but tonight all I want is to feel Ari. We have a house full of people, but I’m definitely in the mood for a repeat of earlier. Jack and Luke are waiting for me at the truck and we talk about the game the whole way home. Apparently, Davis thought the whole experience was awesome. My phone chirps, right when we drive up at the house. The text is from Cara.

Cara— Great game. So proud of you. Can we please talk?

Shit!

Me— About what?

Cara— I am so sorry, Reed, please meet me tomorrow.

Me— I’ll meet you but if you say one negative word about my fiancée or try to justify your shit, we are DONE!

Cara— Tomorrow 10 am @ Starbucks?

Me— I’ll be there

“Reed, did you hear me?” Jack asks.

“No.”

“I asked why are we sitting in your truck?”

“I don’t know why you are, but I was texting my fucking sister. We’re meeting tomorrow morning.”

“Why?”

“I’m doing it for Ari.” I shake my head and swing out of the truck hoping to God Ari is still awake. Now I definitely need to feel her.

Ari, Sophie, and my mom are sitting in the kitchen when we walk in. I kiss my mom on the cheek and then pull Ari directly into my arms.

“I missed you.” I whisper into her hair.

She smiles sweetly and squeezes my waist.

“Reed, what have you guys told Davis about religion?” My mom asks us.

Ari goes still and I look down at her. She shakes her head.

“Nothing really, Mom. Why do you ask?”

“Well, Davis asked me who was God and why Ari was screaming at him this afternoon.”

I don’t even have to look at Ari to know she is turning red. Laughter fills the kitchen and I can’t help but join in.
