Maxen (Broken Hill Boys 3) - Page 23

She must think I’m an idiot to have believed that one. Yes, she’s my best friend and I trust her with my life, but I’ve spent countless days with this man and truth be told, I think I’m falling in love with him. I even talked to him about it after my fight with Tora and he assured me that he never even spoke with her that night, not even a ‘hello.’

I don’t understand any of this, but what I do know is that it’s hurting my heart. With our friendship spanning over many years, it’s not the first time we’ve had a fight, but it’s definitely the worst. What makes it harder is that we’re living together now. Before, we could go home and have a little alone time and come back the next day, each apologizing profusely until we were blue in the face. This time, we haven’t had a chance to get that space we so desperately need.

I guess that’s what I’m doing here at Lukas’ place now. I love my home and I love that I’m living with Tora, but right now, I so desperately need to be out of that house. I can’t wait until things go back to normal.

I need to pull my big girl panties up and just talk to her. The only reason she’d say something like that is if she’s needing attention. Maybe she’s hurting and isn’t sure how to express herself. I know the last time something was wrong, she’d stop eating instead of just voicing her issues. Maybe it’s something like that.

I let out a breath as that thought has a new resolve coming over me. It’s time to put this bullshit fight to rest and settle this. I hate being mad at my friend and I hate it when she’s mad at me. But…I could also use the downtime here with Lukas before we have the dreaded talk.

Lukas is at football training and isn’t due back for an hour, so I let myself into his home and start making my way up the stairs. The place is always open, even when all the guys are at training. It’s ridiculous really. They should do something about that, but the second the door gets locked, they’re bound to never get it open again. For such smart boys, they can be pretty stupid sometimes.

I get to the top of the stairs and shake my head at the mess. The guys know absolutely nothing about cleaning up after themselves. It also doesn’t help that there are parties here nearly every night. Hell, if it’s not a party, then it’s something. The only time this house is quiet is times like this when they’re training, yet even still, there’s bound to be someone here. A girlfriend, a mother dropping in to get her son’s dirty washing, a cleaner, a prostitute…you name it, and this house has seen it.

I get to Lukas’ room and grab hold of the door handle. I have an hour to kill before he gets home so maybe I can surprise him with a clean room and a naked me when he walks through the door.

The door swings open and as I take a step inside, a slapping sound has my eyes lifting from the ground until they lock on the small blonde, gasping in shock as she braces herself against the wall as my boyfriend slams into her from behind.

A gasp sails up my throat as my eyes bug out of my head. “Oh, fuck,” Lukas grunts, releasing the girl’s hair from around his clenched fist. He steps back from her, his hard dick now pointing directly at me and glistening with her bodily juices. He shakes his head in either denial or horror at being caught out. “Babe, I swear…I.”

“Let me guess,” I scoff, holding back the tears that so desperately want to come streaming down my face. “It’s not what it looks like?”

“Well, I mean…” he winces, glancing at the girl who’s standing awkwardly in Lukas’ bedroom, covering up her small tits and slowly backing away. “It’s really not what it looks like. She means nothing. It’s just a bit of fun.”

The girl sucks in an outraged breath before grabbing her dress and pulling it over her head. She then finds her bra hanging over his dresser and a black lacy thong on the ground. She jams them into the bottom of her handbag and glares at Lukas. “Fuck you too, dickhead. It wasn’t that great for me either.”

With that, she storms toward me. “Sorry,” she grumbles. “If I knew he was with someone, I never would have-”

“Save it,” I cut her off. “I’m not interested.”

Her lips pull into a tight line before she gives me a regretful nod and slips out the door, being careful not to touch me in any way, shape, or form.
