The Lone Star Cinderella - Page 38

“Me.” She lifted her hands to the belt at her waist, but he stopped her.

“Let me.”

She stood perfectly still while he untied the belt and pushed her robe open. The cool air in the room brushed her skin, raising goose bumps that were dissolved in the heat of Dave’s touch.

His hands smoothed over her hips and up to cup her breasts. She swayed, but kept her eyes open, determined to see him, to experience every moment of this time with him.

He’d taken a shower, too, before coming to her. His dark blond hair was still damp. He wore a black T-shirt, jeans and he was barefoot. He looked sexier than she’d ever seen him and that was saying something.

He bent to kiss her and she moved into him, relishing the buzz of sensation as his mouth met hers. Once, twice and then he straightened up, looking down at her again. “Gotta have you, Mia.”

“Yes, Dave.” She reached up, wound her arms around his neck and whooshed out a surprised gasp when he scooped her up into his arms.

She laughed, delighted. It was all so romantic, she could hardly believe it was happening to her.

He took a step and stopped. “I surprised you,” he said, grinning.

“You did.”

“I like your smile.”

She liked a lot about him. Staring into his eyes, Mia knew she should call a halt to this and knew just as well that she wouldn’t. Sighing, she said, “Oh, this is really going to complicate things.”

Dave shook his head. “Doesn’t have to.”

“Of course it does. Sex always complicates things.”

“Complications aren’t necessarily a bad thing.”

“I hope you’re right.”

His grin widened briefly. “I’m always right.”

He laid her down on the bed and she pushed herself up onto her elbows to watch as Dave stripped out of his clothes. In seconds, he was on the bed with her, gathering her up in his arms and rolling them across the mattress until she was breathless. Legs tangled, hands explored, mouths tasted, teased. Breath came fast and short and whispered moans and murmurs filled the room.

Mia arched into him when his mouth closed over her nipple. Lips, tongue and teeth worked her already sensitive skin until she was twisting and writhing beneath him, chasing the feeling that was growing inside her.

Mia had never felt like this. Never even come close. Dave was stroking her, dipping his fingers into her heat, touching her inside and out. And with every caress the fire engulfing her grew brighter, hotter. Her hips lifted into his hand, as she instinctively moved toward the release waiting for her.

“I’ve wanted to touch you like this for days,” Dave murmured, then closed his mouth around one of her nipples.

“Oh…” She held his head to her breast and her eyes closed with the sheer bliss of the moment.

“I love the little sighs and moans you make,” he said, lifting his head to look down into her eyes. “I love the way you feel. I love the scent of you.”

Love. Love.

But not the Big L. A corner of her mind realized that and made sure she didn’t cling to any false hopes. He didn’t love her. He loved what they were doing. And so did she. Don’t think, she ordered her mind and deliberately turned off everything but the sensations cresting inside her.

Again and again, he stroked, delved, caressed and nibbled. Foreplay became forever-play. She wanted him inside her and he kept making her wait. He was pushing her so high, so fast, she could hardly breathe with the wanting.

No one had ever touched her like this. No one had ever made her feel so much. He kissed her, using his tongue to steal the last of her breath. Mia didn’t care. At that moment, all she cared about was finally, finally reaching the climax he was promising her with every stroke of his fingers.

When he broke the kiss and she reached for him, he grinned. “Hold that thought.”

Then he eased off the bed, grabbed up his jeans from the floor and reached into one of the pockets. He tossed a handful of condoms onto the bedside table, then opened one of the foil packets.

A buzz of expectation sped through Mia as she shot a glance at the condoms, then at Dave. “Planning a long night?”

“Good to be prepared,” he countered, and sheathed himself before joining her on the bed. “Now that I’ve got you where I want you, I may not let you go again.”

“Who says I’m going to let you go?” Mia teased.

He grinned at her again. “That’s what I like to hear.” He dropped a kiss at the base of her throat. “You’re so warm.”
