Savior - Page 68

“Won’t we be late for work?”

“I called the boss, he said it was fine,” I said with a wink, eating up her every smile.

I walked to my closet and tossed a robe on the bed before pulling on a pair of sweatpants. I loved watching her slip the robe over her shoulders while still trying to clutch the sheet to her chest. She stumbled out of bed a bit when she tried to get out without exposing anything. I wanted to call her out on it, tell her how gorgeous she was and how I planned on seeing every single inch soon, but her cheeks were already stained red from her fall.

I decided I’d let her have this moment and just show her later what I thought of her body. She turned on the news when we went downstairs and I made us each a cup of coffee. When she sat at the island, I slid it over and she murmured her thanks.

Her shoulders were pulled up to her ears and she kept clutching her robe closed. My chest pinched watching her. Did she regret last night? Was she scared of me? Were the events from before catching up? I wanted to walk to the other side and pull her in my arms, but the way she almost curled in on herself, I was too scared she’d be the one to push me away.

So, like a coward, I turned my back on her and began making scrambled eggs.

We were sitting at the dining room table, almost finished eating when I couldn’t take it anymore.

“Alexandra, are you okay?”

She kept her eyes on her empty plate. “Yeah.”

“If you need to talk about anything, you can. If you need me to—” The words choked in my throat, fighting to not come out. “If you need me to give you space, I can.”

“No,” she denied quickly.

“Are you regretting last night? It doesn’t have to change anything if you don’t want it to.”

“No.” She shook her head and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before looking at me with a smile. “Last night was more than anything I could hope for. I guess I’m just nervous. I’m sorry. I’ve never done this before.”

God, I was an asshole. I forgot how few experiences she had. I scooted my chair out from under the table. “Come here,” I ordered, patting my thigh.

She moved slowly, but eventually perched on my leg, looking at me from the corner of her eye. Touching her chin, I brought her lips to mine and gently kissed them, just breathing her in. When she didn’t pull back, but sunk more into me, I moved my hand to the neck of her robe and tugged it aside to bare her shoulder. I kissed my way down her neck and across her shoulder until I reached her arm.

“Is this okay?”

“Yeah,” she breathed. “How about I just tell you if it’s not. If I don’t say anything, then we can assume it’s more than okay.”

“Okay.” I smiled and pressed my lips to her soft skin again. She gasped when I gently licked back to her neck and kissed up to her ear. “Don’t scare me like that again,” I growled before pulling back to meet her eyes. I needed her to hear me—to take in my words. “I’m…protective of you. Somewhere along the way, your name calling latched on and I’d miss it if it was gone.”

Her gray eyes sparked before she laughed. Then she leaned down and kissed me. My chest expanded at her initiative. It was more than a kiss, it was an acceptance. It was the most relaxed and like herself I’d seen her all morning and it eased the ache I’d had since I’d walked out of the bathroom.

Her gaze turned serious when she pulled back—nervous. “Not to sound like a naive teenager, but what are we doing.”

I shook my head. “I keep forgetting how young you are. People will think I’m an old pervert.”

She framed my face with her hands. “I don’t care what other people think.” And then she did it again, she leaned down and kissed me, this time with bites and sucks, pulling groans from my chest.

“We are doing what feels right,” I explained when she pulled back to let me breathe. “Having you in my lap feels right.” My hand parted the robe and stroked her inner thigh. “Touching you feels right. Not pushing you away feels right. I’m done fighting you. I want to enjoy you for as long as you will let me.”

She sunk her teeth into her bottom lip, but it didn’t stop her eyes from creasing and her cheeks from pulling up.

“Will I be the only one you enjoy?”

“Only you.”

“Then I only want to enjoy you too.”

“You better,” I growled. I moved my hand higher, pushing my way between her thighs until I could feel her heat against my finger. I pressed between her folds and lightly dragged my finger up and down. I groaned when she squirmed on my lap, brushing against my cock. “Now, how about I introduce you to shower sex before work? I’d have you sit your pretty pussy on my cock right here, but I don’t have a condom.”
