Redemption: AmBw Romantic Suspense - Page 81

“Hmmm.” Wyatt moved his attention back to the stage, but I could tell our friendship had shifted. Wyatt was smart enough to be suspicious about my gloves. I kept my view on Honey as she took off her bra, but my peripheral sight was on Wyatt.

He gave me a few more quick glances. Had to notice the trench and the bulge the Glock had caused. Had to be on alarm from that point on.

My time is up. He’s on guard.

Grabbing my tea with my left, I placed my right hand in my trench, but made sure not to make it obvious.

Honey put her back to us and twerked her ass a few feet from my face.

Wyatt stubbed out his cigarette and leaned my way. “What’s your name, friend?”

“They call me Yo-yo.”

“Why?”

“I love yo-yos. Especially the glow-in-the-dark ones.”

Wyatt nodded. “What’s in the back of this club?”

“VIP. You take the girls back there and they’ll do almost anything.”

“I should check it out.”

I checked Wyatt’s side. Fast, he’d already placed his left hand inside his jacket.

He’s definitely suspicious. Trying to get me alone, buddy? Let’s do it.

I gave him a friendly smile. “You want to check it out?”

“We can just go back there?”

“Sure. I can give you a small tour.”

“Man, I’m lucky to have met you.” Wyatt’s eyes had a flash of rage in him as he grinned. “If you don’t mind, I would love to. I’ve got to waste time somehow.”

“Of course.” I took a sip of my tea and placed it on the stage. My right hand remained in my trench. “And I’ve got to figure out a way to spend this hundred dollar bill somehow.”

I rose.

He did too.

Turning around, Honey frowned and shook her titties at us. “You both have to go to the bathroom already.”

“I’m just showing him around the place.”

She gave me an odd look.

I took out the hundred dollar bill with my left hand and tossed it to her. “Enjoy.”

Wyatt kept his eyes on me. If he’d noticed the value of what I’d thrown, he showed no sign of it.

“Go ahead and lead the way, Yo-yo.”

I figured he wanted to stay behind me. It would make him more comfortable. It didn’t matter, if he was in front or in back. I planned to take him down once we got in the VIP section and drag him out the club’s back exit.

The DJ switched to a Hip Hop song.

Glancing over my shoulder, I rocked my head and guided him toward the VIP section. Kevin stepped inside. Wyatt didn’t notice it.

I looked back again and let go of the Glock. Kevin headed over to the DJ, probably to make sure no one stopped me from going off to the VIP section. Surely, two men heading that way appeared suspicious, especially in a strip club.

Here we go.

As soon as I stepped through the green crystal curtain, I ducked and turned.

Fast, Wyatt had already gone for my head with the gun, trying to slam me in the back with the metal. I dove for his waist and shoved him into the wall.

He grunted and hammer jacked my back. Pain erupted. My spine shuddered, but I’d been hit harder before.

I tossed him onto the floor.

He fell but jumped back up and reached for his gun. I kicked his leg. He punched me in the jaw. I crashed to the wall.

He took his gun out.

I slammed into him and pushed his arm up in the air. He shot. The bullet hit the ceiling. Dust fell. The music stopped. Women screamed. Someone ran past us as we grabbled in the hallway, pushing each other into the wall. I tried to grab the gun or loosen his grip.

He head-butted me.

I went dizzy and blinked but didn’t let go.

We fell to the floor.

Kevin appeared and wrapped his arm around Wyatt’s neck. Wyatt dropped the gun. I grabbed it and slammed the butt against Wyatt’s face. Kevin let go. Wyatt fell to the floor.

“Fuck.” I coughed. “Get everyone out the club!”

Kevin quirked his brows. “But he’s out—”

Wyatt rolled over with his other gun pointed at us.

I raised my hands.

Blood dripped from Wyatt’s nose. “Which one of you are fucking Ebony?”

“I am.” I stepped forward with my hands still up. “Let him go.”

Kevin screeched. “Yo-yo, what are you doing?”

“Let him go, Wyatt.” I spit blood on the floor. “I’ll show you where the kids and her are out. You shoot me now and they’ll just run somewhere else.”

Wyatt took his time rising from the floor. The whole time he kept the gun pointed my way. “Why don’t you just write down the address now?”

“What’s the point? I write the wrong one. You kill me. They run.” I inched closer. “It’s better for you, if I show you.”

Wyatt glanced at Kevin and then me. “Which one of you broke into my house?”
