He sighs, arms relaxing around my body. “Are we still fighting, doll?”
“I don’t know.”
“Great. Maybe we can take a napping break.”
My response is lost to the clap of thunder that rattles the windows. I squeak while nestling into his hoodie, the vibration of his chuckles echoing in his chest. Sure, he might be laughing at me, but I don’t even care, too lost in the way his arms tighten around my shoulders. He’s protecting me. He’s doing what he said he would do.
From fucking thunder, I remind myself. But other people…
I squeeze my eyes to chase away the thought. Does it matter? He could have very well told me to go home after helping with his mother. He could have yanked me into the bathroom to fuck instead of holding me in his bed. Tomas does what he wants. And right now, he seems to want to just hold me.
It doesn’t matter how long this might last. I want to stay here forever.
