I Can Fix That - Page 68

Chapter 32

One of the most attractive things you can watch a man—especially your man—do is carry heavy boxes in a tight, dark shirt. In this case it has me leaning against a door frame, possibly drooling, over Grant moving my stuff from the apartment to our house.

Our house. It felt good to think that. After Grant bought the house, we agreed to move in together, even though we were not engaged. Ashley was so excited I thought she might burn the place down, and of course Beau knew Grant was buying it the entire time. She was so upset for him keeping the secret from her, but we all knew how Ashley would have told me two seconds after she found out.

Grant laid down two boxes stacked on top of each other, sweaty and out of breath. He puts his hands on the door threshold around me. “You gonna help me? Or do you wanna stand there and look pretty?”

I smirked at him. “I thought you once told me you did all your own dirty work.”

He looked down at me and chuckled. “I might need a little help on this one.” He leaned down to plant a kiss on my lips, when Beau and Ashley walked in.

“All right, love birds, we got a whole truck to get through.” We head out to grab boxes from the back of Grant’s truck.

I felt pure bliss looking at his items merging with mine. We had a conversation last week about whose furniture we would be bringing to the house—which resulted in a hodgepodge of both of our living spaces. The mix of our things together made perfect sense. His gray, white, and black furniture with my funky coral and sage green accents matched our relationship exactly.

I watched Grant grab a box full of my books and place it on his shoulder effortlessly. I grabbed one of the smaller items and walked in the house with him again.

We continued the process for the rest of the afternoon, till all four of us were sweaty and exhausted. We split a box of pizza, and by the time we were done, Ashley and I were both so tired we were ready to pass out.

The boys still had enough energy to put together our bed and nightstands before Beau and Ashley were ready to leave. Grant and I fixed our sheets and bedding set before slipping into our new bed and wrapping ourselves around each other.

With my nose pushed against his chest and his chin on top of my head, I whispered to him, “It was a good day. Thank you for helping so much.”

Grant planted a kiss on top of my head. “It was a good day, Hart.”

I snuggled into his warm embrace, half asleep when I heard his dark whisper right above my ear, “I love you.” Even in my half-asleep state, I knew I would never forget this moment.
