“You can come back up here, you know.”
He smirks. “I know.”
“So why are you on your knee… oh my god, you are on one knee.”
He smiles at me and then takes my hands. “Grace. I know it’s only been three months. But fuck, we’ve been through a lot in three months. But being with you is the most comfortable I’ve ever been, and that’s saying a lot when you are constantly fighting me and challenging me every day. But that is what makes you so special. What makes us so special. That spark between us that has never faded. It’s only grown stronger. So you may think I am crazy for doing this three months in. But I know this is the right thing. Hell, I have never been more sure of anything in my life. Grace Prescott, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
I stare at him wide eyed, speechless. I actually have to remind myself to blink a few times before I snap out of it. “I’m so sorry. I was in shock. But yes. Damn it, yes, Carson.”
I try to stand up out of the hammock but end up just falling on him, making him fall backward. I laugh as I grind my hips against his and kiss him. “Of course, I’ll marry you.”
“Good, you had me worried there for a second.”
I go to kiss him again, but he pushes me back. “Hold on one second, you demanding and needy woman. Let me get the damn ring out of my pocket.”
I giggle. “I don’t need a ring.”
“Too bad.” He pulls a box out of his pocket and opens it to reveal a beautiful pear-shaped diamond. He manages to sit up and pulls me so I am cradled in his lap. He grabs my hand and slides the diamond on my finger.
“I hope you talked to Owen about this.”
“Why are we talking about your brother?”
“I just don’t want to have to ice your face for a week.”
He leans in and kisses me as his thumb rubs over the diamond on my finger. “He helped me pick out the ring.”
“Really?”
“And he decorated the deck with me.”
“No!”
He nods. “He gave us his blessing.”
I wrap my arms around his neck. “Good. Let’s not talk about Owen anymore.”
Carson chuckles against my lips. “No, let’s talk about my monster dick.”
I shake my head but then dive in and kiss him.
