We stare at each other, and I watch her processing her words while I do the same.
“This can’t be it. Last night meant we still have feelings for each other that I can’t ignore. Don’t tell me you can turn your back on that. Can you really just forget and move on?”
She straightens up, standing taller, and lifts her head. “I have to try.”
“Well, I’ll be trying too. I won’t just give up on us. Not this time. I won’t walk away on what I feel for you. I can’t do it. I’ll do whatever it takes to win you back.”
This woman knows me. She knows what I can be like. She knows me probably more than I know myself. That’s why I know she suspects there’s more to what I said than the fact that I was a fool.
She knows when I make statements like that, I’m serious as fuck.
That’s why she’s glaring at me and doesn’t have an answer. She knows I mean what I’m saying.
She just watches me as I walk past her and leave.
I jump in my car and press my head back against the seat. I don’t have a fucking plan, but I’ll come up with one.
