My steps slow as I continue to watch, and James notices.
“Holy shit,” he hisses under his breath when he sees her. “I can’t believe I forgot to ask you about her. Have you spoken to her yet?” he asks.
“Not so much.” I don’t want to talk about Montrose Place until I know what I’m doing. James knows enough shit about me and Jia. I don’t want to add more to it yet.
“Really?” He looks like he doesn’t believe me.
“Yes.” He’s the only guy I told about my relationship with her. We’ve known each other since elementary school, so he’s the only person I trust with my secrets. He knows everything from start to finish.
Jia must feel the weight of my stare on her because she glances at me as she nears the corner, and a frown wrinkles her pretty face.
That’s all she does by way of acknowledgment while she continues on her way.
I’m going to talk to her today. That’s the mission.
Hopefully then, we’ll come to a decision that we can both agree on. Deal done.
Then… I should be able to leave her alone like she requested.
Secretly, though, I’m watching her now, and I’m not sure I can deny that part of me that still remembers how she tastes.
It wants me to taste her again.
