Kidnapped.

He’s keeping me here.

My God did I ever make a mess of everything.

Absolutely everything.

I guess I should be grateful I can live for another day, but how much longer will Aiden keep me alive.

The whole plan failed. I can’t believe I put everything on the line, and I failed.

Jude will know I’ve been taken when he discovers his guards have been killed.Even though it’s not the same thing as escaping, I’m fucked if he ever finds out I positioned myself to come to L.A.

Then it won’t matter whether or not I actively escaped because he’ll know I got myself kidnapped and he wouldn’t hesitate to kill my mother.

I’ve been kidnapped, put Mom in more danger than she already is, and I still need to find Eric.

Being held here is like having my hands tied behind my back.

The only thing I could do to salvage the situation is get back to San Francisco to keep Mom safe.

I watch Aiden meticulously as he undoes the chains bindingme. The instant he hands me his shirt I cover myself up, purposely not saying anything until I have it on, in case he changes his mind and chains me upagain. Naked.

His shirt is miles too big for me.It swallows me up, stopping at my knees and slinks down myshoulders.Anyone who sees me in it would think we spent the night together, and I’m purposely wearing hisclothes.

When he steps back, I slip off the bed and stand even though my legs are numb and my feet pale andsensitive.Meeting his cold, officious stare I think of what I can say to change hismind.

“Please, Aiden, please let mego.Jude will kill my mother if he discovers what I did.” I start with Mom, hoping he might have a heart. However, the heartless, soulless look he gives me shuts down that thought instantly.

“Your mother is not my concern. You should have thought of your mother before you got yourself in trouble and lied to a man like me.”

“But I told you the truth. I told you everything. What don’t you believe?”

He said he believed only some of the things I toldhim. Maybe if I know the parts he thought I was lying about I could clear it up.

“The parts you aren’t telling me.” The iciness of his blue eyes darkens to an almost metalliccolor. In the sunlight, it’s more pronounced than in the roomlight.

It’sscarier.

“There’s nothing more. I did tell you everything. So please let me go.”

He hardens his gaze and looks meover. When his eyes settle between mythighs, I lock my legs.

“Do you seriously believe I’m going to let yougo?”

I don’t want to say no, but that is the answer. Of course, I don’t believe he’ll let me go. But knowing that doesn’t stop me from trying.

“I have people who depend onme.”

“I don’t care,” he replies with emphasis on his cold hardwords.

“You can’t keep me locked uphere.”

He glares at me. “Watch me.”
