Olivia

The dark-haired woman leading me up the stairs takes care of the girls.

I can’t remember her name, but I don’t think I need to. When we were introduced, she took one bitchy look at me and must have decided she didn’t like me.

She didn’t have to say anything. That look was enough to tell me what she thought.

I’m not here to care about shit like that though. I’m getting closer to where I need to be and that’s all I care about.

Even if she might have sensed I lied my ass off to get the three-night trial for this job. The only roundabout truth I told was my name is Marie. That’s my middle name.

Everything else I told the club manager was a lie.

Here I am though, and the hours suit. I told them I could be here at nine-thirty because of my classes at UCLA, and I could stay until the club closed at three in the morning. I told them the money would help with my student loans.

If tonight goes well, I’m back again tomorrow and the next night. If I pass that’s when I will worry about things like my real name, and references. My hope, however, is that I get what I need by then. I don’t know if it’s possible, and I have no idea what to expect when I see Aiden.

The trial is to test my constitution for working in a sex club, especially when I signed the disclosure and consent to do anything. The list of sexual activities I agreed to had my head spinning.

Threesomes, group sex, orgies, anal sex, fisting, body feasting, BDSM, and other things were there. Agreeing to anything though means anything so it could even be things that weren’t listed.

That was what I had to do in order to work in the VIP lounge.

Anything, was what I had to agree to, to get my chance with Aiden up close, and my did I ever.

Now I’m going to him. He picked me.

But then I knew he would.

That look he gave me earlier was as good as signing a contract itself. I’m an idiot for not feeling some triumph because my God look how far I’ve come. But that attraction rippling through me is a tell there are elements to the way I’m feeling that are very real and the attraction isn’t something I made up. It’s there and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

I also most likely can’t feel that triumph because this is still the easy part.

We stop at a white wooden door and I know this is it.

“Go in, and make sure you do as you’re told. Piss him off and you’re out,” the woman says, flicking her hair over her shoulder.

“Okay,” I answer, and she looks me up and down like she doesn’t believe I’ll last the night.

I’d be inclined to agree if I weren’t so desperate.

Looking away from her, I knock on the door and that’s when she steps away and struts back down the hall.

“Come in,” Aiden calls out and the deep timbre of his voice sends a shiver through me.

It’s the first time I’ve heard him speak and the effect of those two words is intoxicating.

I push the door open to the dimly lit room, taking slow, shallow breaths, so I don’t pass out from the fear writhing through me. I then walk inside and shut the door. I can’t see him anywhere though.

Not until he steps through the opened French doors leading out to the balcony, coming out of the shadows like the vengeful god I pegged him to be. Like Hades stepping out of the Underworld and into the light where I can see him.

The sight of him this close, with the knowledge of what we could be doing next, makes heat in undiluted waves streak through my body. It burns me up from the inside out even though I’m trapped in his icy blue gaze.

The juxtaposition of emotion is one I’ve never felt before and as he continues to stare back; I feel so transparent I want to run away.

Run from the danger he is and run to hide what he might be able to see inside me. My secrets and fears.
