The Cowboy's Texas Rose (The Dixons of Legacy Ranch 1) - Page 41

Rose:Pot? What pot?

A photo popped up.

She squinted, enlarging the photo, when she realized…

“It’s an up-close section of the pot!” she blurted out to the yucca and lizards.

The photo was a small section of the thousands-year-old pottery her professor had once seen, but this time, it wasn’t an old, black-and-white photo. It was the real pot. Was he standing in front of that artifact right this second? Anxiousness to see it in its entirety infected her.

Rose:Where’s the rest of it?!

Toby’s reply popped up almost immediately.

Toby:You wanna see the goods?

She grinned. Such a flirt.

Rose:I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.

Toby:Don’t tease. Show me.

She dashed back inside to grab her backpack so she could hightail it up to the main house and slung it over her shoulder. Still grinning, she pulled out a cooking pot from her cupboard—a small, metal one. She snapped a photo and hit Send.

Rose:There you have it. My pot.

Toby:Damn, girl. Has that thing been on the stove because it’s hot.

So. Much. Innuendo. She groaned, then tipped her head back and laughed.

Rose:You did NOT just use a cooking pot for a pickup line, lol.

Toby:

Toby:It got your attention.

Rose:Now show me the complete package.

If he sent her a dick pic, she’d know exactly what kind of creep he really was. Even if she suspected he had a nice, handsome, smooth handful. She raised her eyes to heaven, though couldn’t suppress another chuckle. It had indeed gotten her attention.

Another photo popped up.

The pot stared back at her in full color, Toby’s hand in the picture holding the lid of a padded archival box open.

“The pot.” She froze, the sight of it so sudden it jarred her thoughts.

Toby:So you coming up here, or what?

Rose:Affirmative, Captain. It’s amazing.

Toby:Yeah, it’s pretty sweet. I’ll even whip it out so you can touch its big, hard shape.

Ugh! So smug. Her thumbs moved over the keys.

Rose:Mmm, how big is it? Size matters, and photos can be deceiving.

A speech bubble began to waver.

Toby:It’s big enough to meet your expectations and leave you breathless, girl. Now get your tail to my front door.
