Cherish Me (Rough Edges 3) - Page 60

“Are you serious?”

“And it’s the first edition. What’s better than that?” I reply.

Two of the ladies practically pushed me out of the way to hustle toward the counter to find them, and within five minutes, all her signed copies were sold. I found some of these at other bookstores and for a decent price, so I only asked a couple bucks over what I initially paid for them. Just something that can give us some buzz, because I know they are going to post that on social media, and then others will want to check us out, too. That’s how things work in this day and age; you have to be talked about online to gain traction most of the time, and it can be good or bad. Although the negative things usually outweigh all of the good ones. Sucks, but the truth.

Patrons keep filing in, and some bring in their kids to check out the new upstairs area, and I follow to see their reaction. We put a couple small kids tables up there so they can sit down and read, and we have so many books for them to choose from, and that’s how it should be. Inspire them while they are young and the joy of reading will follow.

The girls are checking customers out as fast as they can to keep the line moving, and then George shows up. He becomes speechless seeing all of the people inside and roams around to check out everything that Aiden has done to spruce the place up. When he comes toward me and Aiden, I greet him.

“You’ve done a wonderful thing. I never had this many people in my store at one time.”

Aiden shakes his head, and he continues to roam around.

The rest of the day goes by fast with a string of customers coming in so the bookstore is never empty for the rest of opening day. As he suspected, the new releases are performing better than the used books, and he’s glad he stocked up on so many. Around noon, another box of books is put on the shelves to fill the empty spaces of what’s been sold. Business is booming today and about twenty minutes before we are set to close for the day, Aiden thanks the girls for helping him today, and then we go through and make sure everything still looks good for tomorrow. Books are left behind by patrons on the tables, and everything needs to be organized back on the shelves for tomorrow.

After everything is cleaned up, and six o’clock hits, Amy locks the front door while Aiden does the register closeout for the day to see how much they ended up making in sales.

“If you want to go home, I’ll be there after I get this done. Thank you for coming today,” he says, kissing my cheek, as he follows me to the front door. “I’ll be home shortly.”

This is the Aiden that I fell in love with all those years ago, passionate and driven to make something of himself, and he showed that side of him today. Sometimes, you lose sight of that, but not him. Seeing him so passionate about the place, and wanting to do good for the community, makes me love him even more.

Once home, I put my purse and jacket by the front door, and make my way to the kitchen to figure out what is going to be for dinner. Chicken alfredo because it’s simple and doesn’t take that long to cook. So I put the chicken in a skillet, water boiling for the noodles, and the alfredo sauce in a pan to heat up. While waiting, I think about all the things that our future holds together, and that Aiden being here in Cambridge has become the right move even for him to find something he’s passionate about again. Sure, he did love being a firefighter, but now he is his own boss and that is freeing.

The front door opens and closes as I hear him say my name.

“I’m in the kitchen.”

He walks in and smiles. “Guess how much we made today?”

“A couple thousand?”

“Six-thousand and twenty-three dollars!”

He rushes toward me, and picks me up off the floor, and spins me around. Aiden still had doubts leading up to opening day on if he would be able to pull this off, but hearing those numbers makes me happy.

He turns off the stove, and then sits me up on the island, starting to kiss my neck, as his hands move up my thighs. My fingers run through his hair, and then I work his shirt up over his head.

“Fuck dinner. Let’s celebrate!” Aiden says, getting up on the island with me, and moving my panties to the side as his tongue does wonders making me convulse with passion. Fuck, no one is better than him at this. My hand cups the back of his head, as I wither in ecstasy wanting it to never stop, and when he bites the inside of my thigh, it sends me over the edge, but he still doesn’t stop as I’m on the orgasm train, he keeps going, and throws me into another spat, and this one is even more intense then the first. Yet, I ride it like a wave, until my body crashes and electricity runs through my body.

He smiles, and then flips me over, leaving me no time to bask in the glory of the orgasm, but that’s okay, because he eases into me, and then my ass is up in the air. The quartz on my knees hurts, but after a second, I don’t even think about it, because he’s inside me, pumping into me like a fucking rockstar, and all I want is for him to get his release. So I match his tempo, and go to town, moving my hips to help him get a better angle inside me, until I hear a primal growl erupt from his throat. So fucking sexy.

“You like that?” I ask.

He nods, and continues and I can feel him getting harder until it’s about to combust. Come on, baby. Let’s do it together.

We speed up, and work on each other until we both reach our climax and relish in it.

“What’s gotten into you? Not that I’m complaining.” I say.

He is dripping sweat, and lays down on the island next to me. “I just want to show how much I appreciate you, and what you have to look forward to for the rest of your life.”

If there’s one thing he’s fucking great at, it’s knowing my body, and giving me exactly what I want, and hopefully that will never change.

Since he arrived in Cambridge with me for good, we have come to know the adult version of each other, and I’ve only fell harder for him knowing that he is open and honest about his problems, and if anything it makes him more desirable.

“All the doubts I had about this working out have come and gone. We are meant to be together. I’m not going anywhere,” I say, cuddling up to him.
